See, to me, Deafheaven is nowhere near what i want when i think "Doomgaze" but i get why it's there. Jesu is approaching what i want. Where can i get Yob covering Only Shallow and Aruca?

This is all covers (MBV, Aha, Swans, Slayer, Elliot Smith, the Cure etc.)

And that cover of Long Dark Twenties is one of my favorite songs evvvvver, and you might dig it.

Links are all working on my end? Might be a regional thing. Also the Sun Always Shines version is like 2 minutes shorter (there's no intro).

Somehow i only ever gave them a cursory listen years ago, and now i'm kicking myself. They even share a name with someone i love.

Unfortunately though, every doomgaze or whatever metal gaze quest leads me back to listening to Deftones. How did that happen?

Astrobrite. Scott has been keeping things rolling lately, including a regular live unit for some small touring.

OH, and totally Cherrywave. They are rock solid, and I'm not just saying that because the dude is an ILF fuzz bro.

And, I agree on Astrobrite. One of my all time favourite projects. Scott did this recently, it's like a much darker, even noisier version of Astrobrite. It rules pretty hard. https://valesound.bandcamp.com/album/distortion-hymns

Fuck, I didn't even know about that. I try to follow every Scott Cortez-related social feed I can find and that bugger slipped right by. Pretty rad stuff.

Bunch of good recs in the thread. I stopped keeping up with things a couple years ago, so my current is not quite current...

One the topic of nospaces: lovesliescrushing. They've been around since the 90s, so not sure if they count as current?

Tears Run Rings (Matthew is a swell guy, and runs Shelflife records, who put out Flyying Colours, plus a lot of other good shit, so brownie points)

Asobi Seksu. Yeah, the broke up a couple years ago, but Slowdive asked them to open for their Boston show, so yeah.

I think Ceremony (the good one) is still active?

I can't believe I didn't bring this band up sooner....

Amusement Parks On Fire - Their "Road Eyes" album quickly moved up into my top 5 of all time.

This record is outstanding and immensely listenable start to finish. Love that distorted vibraphone.

Thanks for sharing.
