I love germanium preamps/boosters. That weird fuzzy fucked up overdrive sound.
The hudson broadcast and recovery olympus look cool.

I have a HBE Germania that sounds purdy good.

I have two, the HBE Germania44 and a John Kav custom ge/si switchable with an ac128... Both fed into,a fuzz or muff will give you utter godhead D00000m Iommi tones. They make you go to 11 and just sustain and drone like nothing else.... On their own the results vary, however

Whats cheap?

Aren't they like slightly weirdo AC30s?

I got interested in Selmers after seeing that Jamie Hince rig rundown, all the Selmers I've looked at for sale in the US are ridiculously expensive.

These ones are listed for like $7,000 :wha?:

We've naturally gotta pay a bit more than y'all because they don't show up as frequently over here. BUT... I have noticed that they're a lot more reasonable lately, some showing up in the $800-1500 range. I remember before the economy took a hit, they seemed rare as hens' teeth and were $2K+.

My friend's studio in Brooklyn had one sitting around as a house head, and the other guitarist in my band ended up using it to track all of his parts instead of his JCM800, which was kind of shitty and shrill. The TnB... Jesus, really REALLY fucking great sound. It lived somewhere between a Vox and a Marshall to my ears... a little jangle but also a bit more heft.

As sexy as that guitar is....

So the Black Country showed up today. Looks freaking fantastic.

But, because I'm a knob, I just took the pick ups out of my only guitar to trade them for some Heshers with cpoppell, so until they show up I can't take it for a test sesh. :picard:

Good news is I actually finished unpacking my gear room/office on the weekend so I now have a space to play and finish projects again! :!!!: :joy: :doom: :animal:

So I'll report back soon.

But Ian sent this thing well packaged and super quick, and it looks freaking NEATO so anyone on the fence should just go for it.
Those no reserve auctions are ridiculous, the guy is nuts (in the best way possible).
GO GET YOURSELVES SOME AMAZEBALLS BARGAINS.
