What's funny is I have a public speaking contest coming up at my school and I'm repainting our podium, so it was in my classroom. And kids came in for every class and the first thing each of them does is get on the podium and stick their arm out in a heil, or pound the podium and shout, "Nein!," or, in one extreme case, begin singing "Deutschland Über Alles." What is about a podium that makes kids imitate Hitler?! I swear at least eight kids did this

At least your kids are aware that it happened and it was a thing?
I get this sinking feeling that the more time that elapses between the war and now, the less emphasis will be placed on how awful the whole thing really was.
Plus teenagers are generally insensitive about that shit, at least when it comes to taking the piss on things. Hopefully one day they'll grow out of it and not just become those weirdos that are obsessed with collecting SS memorabilia.
I don't understand those people, who were too young to have even known anyone that lives through the war, and yet are so obsessed with Nazi artefacts.

Fuck.
I guess that settles that, then.
All jokes aside the only Nazi memorabilia I possess is an insignia from a Nazi uniform. A little steel eagle about two inches wide. My grandfather got separated from his battle group with one other soldier in France in WWII. After wandering around for a while they found a barn to sleep in. It was already occupied by a Nazi soldier, and they had no choice but to kill him. I guess he stole it off of his uniform as a souvenir. They slept in the barn and the next day they managed to reunite with the rest of the group. He died when I was seven, so that's a third-hand story from my mom via my grandmother. I'm probably getting it wrong. But that's the gist and I still have the insignia in a wooden box among many other things.

You have to factor in the effect of mass media upon people. Plus you have to factor in that acting like/agreeing with Hitler can be looked at as a rebellious thing to do even if you don't agree with or even really understand the total history behind why it is seen as offensive.. and being teenagers...

Still it isn't a bad story

I remember a lot of people were very upset about Roseanne Barr's photoshoot in
Heeb,
and the editor of the magazine defended it. Both Barr and the editor are Jewish. And he was like, "If we can't laugh about it, then we risk making the Holocaust our religion, and Hitler our God." He pointed out that the Jewish tradition is to laugh at dark situations. So I think there's an element of that attitude in these things. The last thing he would have wanted is to be laughed at!

LOL I didn't feel ragged out

They are right though, also a lot of people like to forget that if no one had listened nothing would have happened, not questioning on a grand scale is much scarier than and evil dude

a Burzum/Sublime mixtape sounds like a good idea to me

I use to do mixes like that all the time to fuck with my coworkers…

JWAR is admitting to a obsession with 90's pop culture and Case finally understands that liking Sublime is like thinking Hitler was just a sorta confused dude with mild anger issues…. at least that is what I am getting from this.
Why is liking Sublime an issue and why is it related to Hilter in anyway? I fail to see a connection here. Must be a joke I'm missing.
Yes I like 90's rock. Duh. I've said it probably a hundred fucking times here. I also love almost every other type of music save for country (which is weird that I liked that song since I despise country other than Cash).
You guys are the weirdos. Not me.

What you are missing is why it is fun to take random things that seem absurd and yet fit together based the flow with and against a topic giving you [the victim] a more enriching experience

I don't find myself a victim. LOL. That's going a little far. I think a lot of you guys have shit taste in music, but you obviously feel the same way about me.

So who's the victim? Also, I only laugh at things when they are funny.
