This is how I lean as well. I feel like when I find that '1 thing' part of the fun is seeing how far it can be pushed, hacked even.

I don't need 50 delay sounds in 1 pedal. Just give me a DMM and I'll make do with that. I'll sooner add another delay to it than try for an all-in-one multi fx solution. Not that I have anything against multis...
For a nice compliment to the DMM I'd like to reclaim a Boss PS-2/3 or DD-7. I loathe submenus in gear unless they're a necessity [my hardware samplers]

Hmm. Of a semi-opposite mindset. But also for a whole electronic mix. For drum machines, synths, tape loops, vocals, give me two timebenders or jack of several trades that I can throw where ever i need them and give me one or two or such weirdies, for when I want the particle on a tape loop or a pitch shifting delay on vocals. Call it a day. Had a huge delay and fuzz quest in 2015. Found what worked and what didn't. Gonna move on.

I'm way overboard with delays on my board too. RV-3>PDS8000 (to be changed for a CT5)>mem loss> el cap > don't know if either space or pitchfactor counts > timebender.

Timebender is pretty much my ultimate "do-it-all"-delay. I realize that it isn't nearly as deep as the timeline/timefactor/dd-500 but I like that there isn't any real menu diving. Such a simple setup and so many features.

I see the merit in both options. Right now I'm using an H9 to cover most delay duties and a Judder for its' textural, bitcrushed repeats when the sample time is set long. I thought the H9 would involve a lot of menu diving but the Windows/iOS app makes using it very easy.

This thread caused me to buy a Timefactor yesterday.
...well not really, but that's my excuse.

timefactor rules. does some funky shit when you push the feedback to 100-110% with short delay

I think it was on the tape mode..sounded like a whale.

I'll have to try that. It has way too much tweak-ability for what I'm used to ...but I couldn't pass it up for the price, and local too.

Imagine having an H9! The Timefactor is soooooooo much easier to tweak that way. Algo's at your fingertips bro!! No menu diving at all.

What I'm saying is you need an H9.

This thread couldn't come in a better time for me. I'm selling my Akai Headrush and jap DD-3, thinking of maybe getting a DD-500, Timebender or Avanlanche run and keeping a PS-3 and PDS 20/20 Multiplay.

I'm sort of in the middle.
I have the Pitchfactor for presets I need during a set. Long digital delays, slapback, "Crystal"-delay, pitch shifted delay, etc.
And I also have a Memory Man-ish delay(Mad bean design) which is use for more on the fly tweaking delay, oscillation, etc.

I say this all the time about synths; both have a place in my heart/setup. Presets are wildly useful for a song part that need to be consistent, but no presets encourages me to go into the great unknown. Why choose? I feel this way about delays. The ONLY shortcomings on the timebender are occassional volume problems, and i could want more than 4 presets. Non preset delays will rarely be the same and that is why I love them.

Yea, Timebender I'd have killed for a rackmount version with more presets, midi control, and some deep (optional) editing.
