Thank you! I love the TB18C1. Right now I've got some NOS tubes in it that I love the sound of, but one of the pre-amp tubes is a little hissy. I need to swap the V1 and V2 and see if that clears it up...but it has a wonderful overdriven sound and works great with pedals. A little too loud for my bedroom playing but that's OK.

It was a bit too much for the recorder/mic in some locations, so I'll have to figure out a way to avoid that in the future. :idk:
That sounds amazing. Please do tell us the signal path (guitar, other pedals, amp(s) etc

Thank you! Les Paul on both pickups, both tone knobs and volumes cranked, into front end of VOX TB18C1 on low gain channel, then in the amps effects loop is Romferd > Alexander F.13 Flanger > Pigtronix PHI Echolution

Chord progression was Am, Bm7b5, Em, Am. Key of A minor.

Lots of scraping of strings with nails, and changing of plucking technique to get different textures. Rate on the flanger is set just a bit faster than the rate on the delay pedal so it cycles through faster than the repeats. Then to give it a more watery feel, the echolution is set to modulation delay with chorus on the repeats to give us some detuning warble as the repeats fade..."hi cut" is also set to darken each repeat slightly.

Once I refine it and record it again with the mic closer and with lower gain so we don't get the overloading issues, I think i will call it, "Robotic Octopus".

Thanks for the info.

I don't know if I'd bother recording it again, it sounds great the way it is.

Well, oddly, it does have better sound quality when you watch it directly on YouTube instead of just clicking the embedded video here...but I'm still annoyed by the moments of feedback and distortion when I peaked on the levels.

But thank you deeply for the vote of confidence!

UPDATE: Finally broke down and got a soundcloud account. That seems to have a little better sound quality than YouTube.

Thank you! I recorded a second version to my soundcloud. (http://soundcloud.com/highdeaf1080p/robotic-octopus-v20) I made progress on controlling the feedback out of the Romferd in some really interesting ways (almost able to make it talk by gently tapping on the string that is feeding back), but unfortunately made no progress on my mic's recording issues. I'm going to have to try 1. moving the mic further away from the amp, and then 2. going back to the stereo X/Y mic if distance doesn't help.

The Romferd is such a really unique and beautiful pedal. Thank you so much for making it! It really does things nothing else on my pedalboard comes close to. I hope you sell a million of them!

So I have one of these coming in the mail and I'm dreaming how to setup the board around it. Do we like if before or after dirt? What about other junk? Does it go crazy after another delay? Seems pretty sensitive to dynamics so I'm imagining earlier in the chain than later.

I run mine at the front of my modulation section, so immediately after dirt usually, but before tremolo, phaser, flanger, delay and reverb.

I run mine almost last in the chain but I keep some modulation and delays after it. Fun dynamic mayhem tip: try an envelope follower with long release time and lots of resonance in front of it, looong delay behind it. Mess with sensitivity on Romferd. Space!
