I've never met Ben more than a hello but Helms Alee is great and I've seen several variants of his designs.

One can only assume he is a wizard.

I've heard nothing but good things about the dude and his amps. Definitely looking to get one of these.

The sole barrier between me and one of Ben's amp is finance (exacerbated by the hideous CAD-USD exchange rate)

They are not so much amps as Valeryan steel weapons crafted by the finest Lannister smiths

Bumping, since the latest Verellen solid state announcements seem relevant to the Kalaloch thread (rather than starting a whole new one)...

Powered cabs and slightly-more-affordable hybrid Meatsmokes, discounted thru the end of January, looks real nice

That hybrid Meatsmoke was a brilliant idea.
Wish it was in the budget right now.

Oh yeah! I forgot how it seems his amps are modular in that people get unique combos of different elements combined. I mean... I don't have any money for this right now... but that is what I would want

Necro bump as fuck but whatever.
I got a Kalaloch because I'm paranoid about breaking my V4 and want to keep it for recording and then have a lighter, sturdier, smaller stereo rig for live. The one I got has a built in OD which I don't really like, the volume is entirely dependent on that which I'm not keen on because I just want cleans from it, but because of how responsive it is to different preamp tubes (tried JJ's, red tips and telefunkens so far), you can smooth it out a good amount. I am going to have to upgrade my cabs, which is a bit of a bummer, so if anyone has any 15" Black Widows or Scorpions laying around, lmk.
Otherwise it's pretty cool, it obviously doesn't sound as warm or full as the V4 but half my pedals sound way better through the Kalaloch, and it is comedically light, which is more than welcome!

Is that a special feature or just a standard feature of the preamp?

So, is it in the form of an extra knob and thus extra circuitry in the preamp?
If so, you might be able to convince him (or some other builder) to make it footswitchable. :idk:

I was really thinking about that, or just having it pulled out entirely if it wouldn't be hard to do. I'm currently just avoiding spending money and am trying not to think about needing to buy new cabs, let alone have someone mod the reason I'm money conscious currently.

Another necro bump, but UGH. This amp is next for me. Oh hai, two Grendel Drone Commanders, into this, into my 1600 watt Electric 8x10” cab that’s totally set up for 2 amps. YUSSSSS.
Maybe partying will help.

Buy mine, I made some excessive purchases and the Verellen is paying for them.
