Who cares about resale (I've never once let that choose something for me)? If you like it and it is fun, than it has accomplished enough.

I'm glad to hear that the space case is different enough to jusify for you. I was hoping they would go beyond something like the Univox EC-100 and making something unique. Sounds like they did!

I also concur that different tape machines sound different. My Maxon/Evans is a totally different beast from my RE-201.

Cheers on the space case!

Yeah, they definitely all have unique sound and features to them. I don't have a way to do quality clips until later this week (left my Macbook Pro on a plane in Italy  ) but took some very quick vids when i first got it of just some random settings and notes

and this one shows the more experimental sounds at a longer delay time (with flux liquid ambience reverb on the signal as well)

That cassette echo looks kind of cool, even if I'm firmly in the "see cassette, think second class audio citizen" camp (it's just a kneejerk thing from back when it was tapes and CDs or bust for new releases). Really dig the sounds on the second clip.

Yea, if you've already got one and want to branch out.

I've been firmly in the SE camp for years - if I wanted Hi Z, etc, I'd get a RE-501.

Just a case of never been a cassette fan and it's a lot of $$ to roll the dice on without some extensive demos and a lot more info on the build etc.

Cool topic!

For hours and hours tweaking and having fun with just fiddling with knobs I love my Subdecay Prometheus!
unfortunately they don't make them anymore

I am going to say timebender. But other contestants are def the PDS-8000 and the memory loss. Or maybe the misty cave. Or bitquest. Damnit there's just too much fun to be had

If you or anyone is curious, there's extensive details here:

http://spacecasetapeecho.com/

Unfortunately there's not a lot of guitar demos yet since I got one of the first ones made for guitar but there's some great demos on vocals, drums, keys, etc.
