Well, here's the long and short of it.
I want a warm fuzzy crunchy tube amp.

How about something that really emphasizes cleans and the ability to handle pedals well so that you've got clarity so you can mangle in an extreme way without things just turning to mud.
I'm thinking of something with the character of Matamp or Electric Amp. Great cleans, great bass, takes pedals better than anything else but not just another high gain metal amp.

Yeah, we'll see. I mean, there's already the Bassman for pedals, Twin for cleans, and uh, I dont know much about high gain amps. But the main goal here is to turn the fucker on, turn it up, hit a downtuned chord and be all like
"AM I HIGH YET? YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH. LETS GO HUNT SOME VAMPIRES."

haha, i accidentally edited yr post with my mod powerz.
Anyway, we haven't even bought the parts yet, so the price is really still up in the air. It looks like a cabinet is going to be $200

who ya gonna get to buidl the cabs? head or combo?

We're going to learn carpentry. Theres no way (that ive found) I can keep this head affordable and out source cabinets.
We also talked about going up to 100 watts today, mostly just for headroom's sake. BUt we'll have a master volume on it so you can still rock the bedroomz if you want.

sounds like we are in the same boat. im commandeering my dads garage for cabinetry timez.
p.s. i spent yesterday searching for nameplate makers
amplates.com just in case you needed that and were looking and hadnt yet found it

personally i think 50w is plenty, but i dnt play loud doomy music! my friends twin was out of control loud. his tweed bassman is cooler to me.

Why doesn't everyone chip in and make a series of ILF amps?

If you make the head and cab separately you could color the head yellow and name it The Cheese Head.
