I've been in the market for another reverb pedal ever since I replaced my RV-3 and Harwire RV-7 with an EQD Afterneath. The afterneath is fucking awesome, but now and than I do miss not being able to do a somewhat convincing plate/hall reverb effect. Even though I got rid of those reverb peds cause they were instant post-rock/p&w machines...

The RV-6 seems to take the compact digital reverb thing a step further, I'll definitely have to keep my eyes open for one of these as soon as they hit the used market.

it looks pretty sweet
I love the RV pedals
and I like boss name structure

You don't have to wonder if this is better than the RV-5

it's 1 better

i'd really like to know what happened to all the rv-4's. they must be the best because you never can find one on ebay.

If it improves on its predecessor at the same level as the DD-7 compared to the DD-6, it should be a damn good pedal.

Didn't they screwed up the DD5 with the DD6?

The number 4 is unlucky in Japan, so no Roland product has ever been that model number.

 one better!

No love on the Roland JC40 announcement? http://www.rolandus.com/products/jc-40/ Big deal seems to be stereo inputs for the main input. But there's a bit of a WTF with that given the mono send stereo return effects loop and the onboard effects--is it stereo reverb and actual stereo chorus instead of the usual dry and all-wet path? I want details, but if the implementation isn't stupid, this could be fun. It's about time someone did an inputs to speakers fully stereo guitar combo amp, so I'm keeping fingers crossed.

No shit?
Damn you Boss! There's always a fucking exception with you!
I'm guessing that's because it's a four band eq, though?

maybe the chorus/vibrato and reverb aren't stereo? i have a feeling they would make a big deal of it if they were.
the way i see it is maybe they've changed it so you can run stereo signals through the preamp and adjust the volume/EQ rather than having to use the power amp inputs as previously, but if you were using it like a normal guitar amp with stereo pedals you would split the signal to stereo in the effects loop section after the onboard effects if you were wanting to use them (the fx loop is AFTER the chorus/reverb right?).
they should have explained it better but even like that i still think it's cool, having analog chorus and reverb with stereo input seems unrealistic so unless they've changed it all to DSP without telling us it's probably like that.

From the Roland page: "Renewed vibrato and reverb effects are on hand, and both operate in stereo for rich, deep performance."

The PQ-4 is a sought-after model today, but back then it was no bestseller. That's why they never used that (Japanese unlucky) number again.

BOSS and model numbers is a funny topic. In the '80s they started using a "2" for every new model, even if there hasn't been any predecessor (like HM-2 - there has never been an HM-1). BOSS thought that the pedals look more established that way. An exception was the CH-1. The story says that the chief designer of this model didn't know the number-2-rule and the project name "CH-1" became the model's name until these days. The new Waza Craft pedals, the new models with the "X" at the end and the BOSS Fender pedals can have a "1" in their model number as well. But the "2" has been the standard for a very long time.

This is an awesome bit of knowledge

and why I probably won't be able to build a -1 board

The BOSS Book is a great info source. Sadly it isn't available anymore and an updated version has never shown up.

Why that? There are enough pedals with a "1": BF-1, CH-1, CS-1, DS-1, NF-1, OD-1, PH-1, SD-1, SG-1, SP-1, TW-1. ;)
