Been Playing through some phasers cause I was interested, the prophecysound systems pi-phase should be on your radar. Mu-tron bi-phase too but I get the impression you don't wanna spend that much and you also might limit yourself with a pedalboard making the bi-phase unrealistic...or the perfect platform to stack other pedals on

Damn straight. I was so pissed when I tried that crystal dagger. Ring mod my ass, fast, shitty phaser is more like it.oscillofuzz wrote: I've considered getting a Faye Sing B before it was discontinued/before I got the Wombtone, but ultimately decided that for ring-mod-esque sounds I want an actual ring modulator, not a fast phaser, and the Wombtone can do fixed/manual phasing as well, and those were the main attractions.
I will say this about the infanem: like jwar said, it isn't lush and it is kinda background to your guitar playing except at the faster settings (which kinda sound silly a bit to me). I like that the slower settings are more subtle and just give a bit of movement to my boring power chord riffs, but I wouldn't call it the best sounding phaser out there by far. I do have a lot of fun with it and it is nice to have all the features in such a small box (esp. the separate depth controls) but it really isn't "over-the-top" until you get to the faster speeds. It is a good phaser that doesn't overwhelm you.
The Moog to me sounds awesome.

I had a Bi-Phase. It definitely does what I want, but, yeah, don't wanna spend that kinda money. Might have to.Chankgeez wrote: Maybe I should just get a Bi-Phase or Pi-Phase.
Same with the Pi-Phase. Interested though.
I also might wait until Mu-FX reissues the Bi-Phase and hear what people say about it.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Moog/Wombtone comparison.oscillofuzz wrote: Joel also told me the Mk 2 goes much slower than the 1, but I can't compare them to each other, or the Mk 2 to the Moog, until it gets here. Mk 1 doesn't really go as slow as the Moog but it does have tap tempo and presets and since I mess with my settings a lot those are also great features to have.

Not to take it off topic, but I've been checking out those Mu-FX reissues. That octave divider looks nice. It would be nice if they reissued the bi-phase.Chankgeez wrote: I also might wait until Mu-FX reissues the Bi-Phase and hear what people say about it.

I know! I'd buy one in a heart beat! Fuck.
I want a Roland Jet Phaser too. So good.

I've read somewhere (Facebook?) that Beigel plans on redoing the Bi-Phase. Who knows when that'll be?
(Jet Phaser'd be nice too.)

I see them every now and again on yahoo.jp. I'll keep an eye out for a good price on one it anyone wants one. I know some used stuff slips through the cracks over there sometimes.jwar wrote:I know! I'd buy one in a heart beat! Fuck.

Re: slowest phaser (that's not a Whetstone)?
BTW a phaser's fundamental sound is greatly affected by the number of stages, however a less glorified yet equally deterministic factor is how deep the phased signal can shift, typically represented in degrees.
IIRC the ubiquitous (and majority of) analog phasers on the market go a full 360` (a full cycle's shift) with few approaching 720` at max.
Greater the shift, the more intense and vocally pronounced the sound (and range of vowels) produces as the comb-filtered signal is swept.
If you can manually sweep and freeze it, the hollow textures and timbres that manifest are like heavenly humming otherworldly beings...or howling, moaning, growling poltergeists
The Effectrode's lfo settings sweep somewhere betwen 45-50s, and can reach nearly 720` ...so while it is *only* a 4-stage phaser, it's capable of sounding more intense at minimum resonance (feedback) settings than many 6, 8...even 12 stage phasers, at higher feedback settings. If there were a Mix/blend control and a master Volume it would be even better, but it's legit unity gain and the tube buffer is top-shelf. Every fuzz I've had sounds bigger in front. Also some really interesting stuff happens when you roll tubes; which affects the frequency response of the buffer and each stage's filter.
v1 Telefunken ecc83, v2 Sylvania JAN-12at7wc, v3 Mullard IEC ecc81 has been my preferred recipe for 2015 after using Raytheon, TUNG SOL & the Mullard for years. It's almost like having a new phaser. Almost
Definitely worth the cost of admission.

That's if I can even find an Effectrode, rustywire. I might as well save up for an Analogue Systems Frequency Shifter.

Re: slowest phaser (that's not a Whetstone)?
IMO the best version is the v2 (PM-2C) Deluxe with knobs marked Wave, Speed, Resonance and the EXP/CV control jack.
I saw 2 on ebay in the past year. 1 Fetched over 700, the other ended well under 500.
The v1 (PM-2B) is considerably different: http://www.musicradar.com/reviews/guita ... uxe-162396
Edit: Interesting stuff http://www.effectrode.com/phaseomatic/p ... -in-depth/

The ph2 suggestion was meant as a total joke. They don't get that slow in the least.

Re: slowest phaser (that's not a Whetstone)?
I decided on the 3ms Phaseur Fleur above both the Moog and Maxon PH-350. The Fleur is a 6 stage phaser with 1080 degrees of phase shift. It doesn't sound detached, or like it's in the background (unless you lower the mix control a bunch). It totally envelopes your input signal in a way that few phasers I've heard do.rustywire wrote:BTW a phaser's fundamental sound is greatly affected by the number of stages, however a less glorified yet equally deterministic factor is how deep the phased signal can shift, typically represented in degrees.

I'd love to hear the Effectrode in person. There pedals are all
I really want one of their vibes.

PH-350
Super underrated pedal, if only it had the expression/cv sweep option.
