The two peds I'm considering: Supercollide, Barber Trifecta. Care to weigh in?

Used to have a '70s ehx bmp, and had a Swollen Pickle for a while. Both were great at what they did, but both of em easily dissapeared in a messy loud mix.
Also been lookinf at the BAT Pharaoh. I avoided it actually. Not just because of the hype (I'm weird that way), but it's supposedly not very gainy on it's own

The Pharaoh doesn't feel as Muff gainy and saturated as most Muff pedals people are used to (Russian, current EHX) but it can be as gainy as a triangle though, which is only better with me because it sounds less compressed (and much more powerful) in my opinion.

That kind of comments make me wanna try a pharaoh after all. It's hard for me to find a fuzz that's both gainy/saturated enough and still doesn't dissapear in a loud mix. There's always a compromise ofcourse, and I guess for me it's usually best to just stack different pedals instead of endlessly buying pedals trying to find The Perfect Fuzz Pedal.

Doesn't mean I'll stop buying fuzz pedals though

I just can't get into the Pharaoh.

I'm loving the Fuzzhugger Velcrobot.

REEEEAAAAALLY regret selling my Trifecta. The Suppa Bender setting is rad. Plus, you can flatten the miss with the push/pull tone pot.

One of the reasons the Trifecta's been on my radar for a long time: I like the idea of getting muff and suppa bender tones out of one pedal, even if there's some sort of compromise.

So how bad does it dissapear in a mix though? I'd imagine the mids control makes some difference, but there's a ton of muff variants that have an extra mids control, and in my limited experience it seems like a mix control isn't the magical solution to make a muff cut through

Well I'm in a three piece band, so I'm not sure how well it would work in a and with more than one guitar.

It worked great for palm muting for me.

Supercollider is one of my favorite muff circuit ever, and I've played most of the really notable ones (although I haven't tried the Barber). That said, it's very much in the NYC muff family, so if you're looking for the kind of really dreamy kinds of super gainy Muff tones, you won't find it -- but the flipside is that it's very in your face, and does 'doom' really well.

I would definitely go with the supercollider over the barber as well, it's all around the best and most versatile muff I've ever used. The Pharaoh never had enough gain for me.

Also, Colorsound one knob fuzzes are tight and I got a Vick Audio clone for like 50 bucks? It's MXR sized too so it doesn't have the issues with board space. It takes up that tonebender category for me.

Supercollider, trifecta...I'll just go with wichever one I find a decent deal for first. The trifecta was about $200 new, and it's no longer being made...So I'm assuming I'll come across a supercollider first. I'm still not sure if anything remotely muff-like will cut it in a loud band with a second guitar. I know stacking it with a more bassy overdrive may be the key, but I don't like doing a little pedal dance every time I go into a chorus or whatever. And a bypass looper would be yet another tool on my board that takes precious money.

So yeah, I'm still always open for suggestions for different shit. To my shame, I've never really owned a good tonebender style fuzz, which for fuzz addict makes no sense what so ever ofcourse.

There's a supercollider in BST right now.

You could get something like a Fairfield Operator!? for that TB loop and have the ability to switch it into a feedback loop?

I owned a Pharaoh, for a week before I returned it. I wasn't really sure what I wanted it to do when I got it. I know what I would use it for now, but when I look at the cost, I could get something cheaper/simpler. Loud as fuck and pretty cloudy sounding, but it just wasn't a standalone kind of pedal for me.
