goroth wrote:Thanks Syl - it's pretty practical. It's just an Ikea Billy bookshelf, but I've turned each shelf into a pedalboard. I put handles on them, filed down the sides so that I could get them out (the doors don't sit flush), and put some brackets under where the shelves sit as they weren't as stable after I filed down the sides. Got each one wired up with a 1-spot daisy chain, so when i want to jam I just pull out a shelf and plug it into a 1-spot and the amp. It's fun making different boards, and it makes all of the collection useable.
That's fucking efficient and awesome all in one.

Someone please send this to Billy every day until all his pent-up rage erupts, his head turns to actual chrome and he engages his final form: Ultimo-Corgon, where he finally starts to hate fuck every skyscraper in Japan demanding an explanation, weeping tears of mercury down on the innocent bystanders below while proclaiming to be the greatest musician of all time, including the future.

My desk is propped up either side by storage space, ones an open fronted set of shelves used for miscellaneous electronic stuff (stylophones, walkmans, external hard drives, etc), the other is a set of drawers.

I use the drawers for my pedals I don't use, if I'm not using them regularly they live in their respective boxes. I have one spare drawer that has all the boxes for the stuff that stays on my board.

Otherwise, it's every free surface in my room  I've never really come across/required a solution for transportation of multiple pedals except when I was at university, and even then I just used a shoebox with bubblewrap (tiny collection back then yo).

Goroth's cabinet is awesome though. Love that shit :thumb:

I wish I had enough pedals to do something like that, it's such a solid idea.

Goroth, do you rearrange the boards ever? Or do they stay pretty consistent?

That's what I wanted to ask too. Awesome idea anyway though, although I probably don't have the real estate in the pedalroom to pull that off

I tend to swap out pedals just one at a time here and there. But I've only had the system for a year, and I haven't tired of the boards yet!

Been collecting pedals for a long time - got my first pedal 17 years ago. Purchase rate accelerated a little around 10 years ago, then again when I sang in a band with a guitarist who had an enormous board.
The shit hit the fan when I joined ILF.

Dude, I had no idea how bad an effect this site was going to have on my pedal purchasing predilection. It's been a ridonc year and 2015 is off to a tremendous start…There should be a warning before joining ILF.

I tend to store boxes up high on shelves in our basement. I have a mix of pedals cycling through my primary set up. Most often I just add to the mess. If they aren't being played I have some space on the floor that is out of circulation. I have been thinking of getting one of the very shallow kitchen storagey things from Ikea to hold pedals, mics, cables, etc.

Something like one of these things below:
http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80035920/
http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40157485/
and I could put some of my keyboards that is stacked in a corner back into circulation as well.

Dude, unless you put a french drain/trench in, if it's flooded once, it will flood again. Get them off the floor, even minimally.

You are going to put the UPS/FedEx/USPS guys in your neck of the woods, out of a job if you do that.

Found some more on kijiji, JUST had enough room for my unused stuff, still figuring out what to do with the rack gear. here is what a few look like together, sorted by time based/verb, dirt, and modulation...

Here is a link to the unit, it is also capable of being lit through a hole in the top panel, I would estimate you can fit over 30 boss style pedals in each one.

That was actually my thought process going into it, I have a lot of gear that I like to switch up (as obvious by the setup of the day thread), but storing it previously was a mess. I thought about what other places would have a ton of gear on hand, and came up with a recording studio (which I have no access to see how they do it), and the local music store. I held of on lighting these guys, as my music room has limited plugins, but seeing how nice and organized it looked in store, it seemed a natural fit.

the only pedal I have that isn't on my board is my dmm, which sits on top of my amp. I've got one or two ss/bs boxes, but I almost always buy used so I rarely get them.

Really great idea!

Now I'm going to have to resist the urge to pick up a few next time I go to one.
