Given the amount of CDs and records I've sold in the last year, I'm sure it's thousands of bands....

A lot of that "heavy rock" that started to be all the rage about 10 years ago turned out to be not great for a reason. For every Flower Travellin' Band or Jerusalem there's a dozen Toads and Captain Beyonds that just weren't so memorable....

I used to really like Terrorizer - World Downfall but I bet I haven't spun that LP in like 15 years.....

I remember loving Slaughter of the Soul when it came out, but I loved it even more when I sold the LP for $100 USD last spring...... Gothenburg sound is so overrated.....

Oh!!

Stikky - I used to find this band endlessly hilarious. I spun the LP recently and it's like.... no.... not exactly hilarious.

I sold all my Hellnation LPs in the early 2000's except for the At War With Emo 5" record but I bet that band has held up better than expected.

In an elaboration on that, I used to be OBSESSED with the Haunted.
I haven't listened to them since The Dead Eye was released.

No idea which is kind'a my answer to the question… thrash.. use to love McTallicA and Anthrax and Megadeath type shit when I was 13.. can't stand more than a handful of songs now.. and funny enough seeing some of them is what turned me off to search for more interesting and lively things.. Napalm I still love though

I'm nearly 33. Nostalgia is well and good and all but I'd be a little worried if my perception of music that resonated with me at 14 or 15 hadn't changed at all since then.

Like Minor Threat are one of the best bands ever that I never ever need to hear ever again.

That's an excellent point. Growth is good.

For real mate - yet some of the stuff from my teens (Rudimentary Peni, Assuck, early German/Bay Area thrash, Crossed Out, MITB, second wave black metal, Sleep) is sone of the most crucial stuff for me 20+ years later. Yet I own EVERY Spazz record and I'm content to throw on La Revancha once every 5 years at this point.

It's also that since pre and post internet it's a lot easier to access information/previews of music, so while there are more bands it's easier to filter through the shit that's out there.

oh dude some of the stuff I heard when I was a kid still seems real as hell to me now (Fugazi, Bikini Kill, Quicksand). Just others are like, cool, that was me back then, not now.

Yeah I used to be REALLY into Spazz and Charles Bronson and I really can't stomach either of them any more for whatever reason

The Charles Bronson has aged A LOT worse than the Spazz, I tell you that. There's still some pretty ripping Spazz tunes out there.

Acrid/Bombs of Death 7" is still hella legit

You should see my Bastard Noise/MITB collection.... That is fucked. Must be 60+ in total and I've barely scratched the surface......
