If Crass counts I'm all in on this call.
edit: aside from Chelsea Wolfe.

Crass totally counts. Penis Envy was at least 50% female vocals. At least that is my argument : )

I feel like I seriously missed the boat with Crass because I somehow only managed to hear them for the first time when I was 25 and it was like 'oh, this is interesting, I can see the impact' rather than hearing them at 14 and being like 'FUCK YEAH OF COURSE THEY DO OF COURSE THEY DO'.

Crass was literally the most impactful thing that's ever happened to me. Shaped every decision I've made in my adult life.

For sure. I listened to them constantly at 13-15. If I heard them now, I think I would understand why people liked them, but I am not sure I would be as attached as I am now.

TBH I think that documentary that occasionally circles the 'Tube does a better job getting people excited for them than the actual records.
I also think the same thoughts about that Joe Strummer doc re: the Clash.

yeah totally. Reading Burning Britain got me interested enough to listen to a few records again last year. But nothing hits you as hard as when you're like a kid just starting to figure out that most of the music you've heard and the ideas that go with it suck. For me that band was Fugazi when I was 12.
On the flipside my first exposure to Bad Brains was 'god of love' when that came out so consequently I've never liked 'em.

I loved Punch when I played with them a few years back!
That was in my old female fronted band Bare Arms (not much on most of these)
