For happy, cheap, out there bass effects I'm still using a venerable Boss ME_6B - analog filters that you can play correctly or mistrack in glorious ways, and everything else good of that era of Boss stuff - high and low-pass modulation, a digidelay that sounds pleasant and goes into near infinite (read, it goes for 20+ minutes maxed) repeat.

I run one in a parallel chain so I have blend options the original doesn't quite have.

I really need to start building my own stuff. I have some ideas. Not too nuts, but what seem like good ideas, if they'll work. Like a big fuzz with some kind of volume swell+reverb effect. And you can control the swell speed and the reverb length. I call it (in my mind) the Thunderhead. You guys just wait. In a year, everyone's board will have a Thunderhead.

Polygrace was fucking fun. SO many useable tones and crazy sounds. I prefered the 4545 from Behndy more then the Polygrace since the tones I loved were a little easier to find. But the Polygrace into the gb24 was orgasmic and chaotic. I loved it.

As far as out there on bass though definitely get some sort of pitch manipulation. Melodies and such that usually had a one tone feeling kinda jump out, and creating new ones (especially when matched with a pitch shifting delay) are almost too easy.

If its all the same snazz then yup. 4545, Polygrace, GB24, Unpleasant Surprise, Bit Commander, and whole bunch of others.

I don't think there was a manual included in the tourbox? Maybe there was and I'm just retarded and I didn't even think to look it up. I mean it sounded good, but I didn't like the Rainbow Machine either. Pitchfactor makes almost all the same sounds and I gots me an H9.

I guess I'll throw out this one too. There's a new version of the Digitech Bass Whammy. That could be pretty fucking awesome.

I'm definitely getting a bass whammy. And the tourbox with the GB24 will be here Monday. Got a lot of fun stuff coming in this week (temp). Nimbus, GB24, Fuzzes aplenty. idiot box tourbox in a couple weeks. So I'll have a better idea of what I want soon.

Polytope is my must-have though. I need a bigger board first though. Mine is packed tight.

Just got a Randy's Revenge of my own today, gotta say I've been surprised at how (i cringe at the adjective) useable ring mod really is on bass

I just watched bendhys demo with the nimbus and heavy machine again. Cant wait to run my current huge fuzz sound (diabolik+mini+starved SSStampede) into this.

I played with the minifooger ring mod at my local music store and it was fun, but I didn't really get to dive deep into it and sort of wrote it off. I'm gonna go back with my pedalboard if theyll let me. I feel like I shouldn't neglect ring mods because they're pretty much perfect for noisy weirdo tunes.

I'm also keeping an eye on the noise pop thread. Having a hard time finding a drummer. Might be looking at programming drums and getting a ditto.
