That song was actually pretty good! That's the first of Antemasque I've listened to, I was kinda just assuming it would suck, like the last two mars volta albums

I like it. It's not revelatory, but I lost interest in TMV after realizing that there are shitloads of bands that ape Mahavishnu and early Santana style jamming better.

Also, why isn't there any discussion on how the vocal hook in People Forget is You Spin Me Right Round. I can't be the only one who hears it.

Or that Cedric sounds like Cartman in the last song.

Hmmm. There's Acid Mothers Temple, for one -- they have a bunch of stuff that covers that ground, although they have like 50 LP's that span pretty much everything 'psychedelic' and 'guitar based'. Then there's the original articles: Santana at Woodstock, Inner Rising Flame by Mahavishnu. It's probably cheating to say Zechs Marquise (and they're decidedly more low-key), but fuck it, I'm going to anyway: http://zechsmarquise.bandcamp.com/ Then there's the contemporary stuff from the 70's, King Crimson (especially Red) and especially:

Magma:

I'll be back with some more modern bands when I can think of some, maybe someone else has some that I've missed?

man this song in the op is so bad, it's kind of awesome that some of you guys like it. shows how different our taste is :)

I agree with your sentiment D.o.S; I found myself much less enamored with TMV after I found out about Mahavishnu Orchestra. When I was younger I had no idea there was old music that sounded like the future.
