This I have wondered as well… I think it has to do with cheese appeals to the mass market or something..

2006-07 is right around when dubstep was really starting to get noticed in the US. Its also when dubstep started to get more aggresive/in your face distorted wobble bass drops. This became embraced by frat boys, bros, and hooligans around the world. It was cool for a bit, but it seemed like dubstep artists got stuck on one upping each other with the overly done insane wobbled out bass drops. Then that asshole skrilex came along and solidified bad dubstep for the mainstream market. Turned dubstep into a product and took away the underground spirit.
I feel the same about DnB. It got rediculous after a certain point. I just stick with stuff that came out before 2004ish.
BTW, that Distance album is top notcth

Love it, Hatcha's dubstep allstars mix is a fucking classic too.
I blame Rusko for that brostep shit though really. If anybody from the London scene pushed it in that direction it was him, combine that with Datsik and Excision and you have the template really. Still I think it's hard to get really mad about all that brostep stuff, it exists in its on bubble over in the states and really doesn't have much effect on people like Distance. It's totally seperate. I mean I saw Digital Mystikz last year and it was just as you'd expect.
Distance is a super nice dude too, had to interview him for a college paper a few years ago and he was a total gent.
Did anybody listen to that new Untold one too?

I'm surprised no one has rec'd these guys. Fucking awesome live and Subliminal Sandwich is an absolutely brilliant masterpiece of an album. A killer trip under the right circumstances...

My dad's friend said that when she was a radio DJ, one of the band members would call every single day with something like, "Hey, could you play that new Meat Beat? My friend says it's really good..."
