Because it's small....
small doesn't have to mean only 2 octaves. aside from programmable sequenced synths i just don't like messing w/ one that doesn't have at least 3 octaves. again, to each their own & all.

Well it's got a VCA and a VCF so if it's got DCOs I can live with that... The Filter stepping is what sucks with DCFs...

My Sh-32 can make some mean ass sounds for a VA but you really need to play a real Analog to see what you're missing...
guess what also has DCOs & is still pretty much always considered an analog synth?

& it's one of my favorite polyphonics.

That's what I was getting at, have one and LOVE it... DCOs stay in tune, it's the VCF and VCA that you want to be purely Analog...

I still want one of these even though I have the real thing, it would look so cool on the right hand side...

dude. dual filter w/ VCA for different modulations? could be awesome! plus it'd be so much more convenient for running other things through. needs a pedal button for bypass. :omg:

But it's got a Self Oscillation toggle... :joy:

Yeah I need the MSQ and that and I'm set for Lush Rolandalogs...

AH doesn't but thanks for switched on! $280 though. i dunno. once upon a time MeSoFuzzy swapped me his 106 for a PC i didn't need. it needed chips swapped out (which i did) but still, i'd have to see if 106s are selling for like 4x that much now... it'd be a sweet addition but probably not worth it since i've got a 106. hrm.

Yeah i know. I went through like a million delays and then finally spent the 300 for a dmm and that stopped the search dead in its tracks. I just bought an echorec after just having the dmm for a year. Man the echorec sounds killer through the dmm. Amazing. Delay is the spaciest thing in the world. People are just delayed waves in time and space.

We are all particles of atoms which are either here or not here depending on the time and space from which we are viewed...

Get a good Synth...

Something simple that may do stuff like the sub phatty that i can run through my Echorec, DMM, and Rams Head. I really like stuff like Lauri Spiegel and NIN stuff. I was thinking of just getting an ipad and try all the apps. Coolness.

or get a midi keyboard controller (or better yet, if u already have 1 around) and...

volca keys
rocket
mopho
dark energy 2
minitaur
nanozwerg
microzwerg
blofeld
pulse 2
lancet
synthlab
domino
monotribe
meeblip se

those are all i can think of. basically "affordable" synths, some probably more affordable than others. features and sound obviously all differ quite abit (you'll have to do the research) but yeah, these are all at pretty okay price points depending on your budget of course. i personally went with a dark energy (sound, semi-modular, looks, superb build quality) for lead sounds and a minitaur for bass (because, well, moog). but that was before alot of the synths above became available. i prefer a module type synth because i suck at playing keys, dont really think of synths as a "keyboard player", prefer the feel and compositional method of sequencers, and if i really want to play a keyboard, i have a cheap keyboard controller (alesis) which i use to play different synths

hope that helps!

Here is a knob per function synth (no keys though) that has interested me.
http://www.traxcontrols.com/retrowave.htm

This Leipzig has a step sequencer built in (I think one might be coming for sale on here, not me though)
