I'll jump on the "that 12th fret inlay is a bummer" wagon, as well.
I have pretty large mitts and the 60's neck is super comfy for mesylnau wrote:SG are for small hands.
They never feel right to me.
It's a fantastic guitar but I've yet to see a lefty. I'd think they'd be available tho...Greenfuz wrote:I'm in the market for a gibson and the price on that sgj appeals to me
anybody know if they're offering em lefty? the 2013 sgj was, but it's like $200 more
Yeah, totally ruins it for me. I played a Sting signature bass at GC a few years back and totally bonded with it. The neck just felt right, but I couldn't get past the big block signature inlay at the 12th fret and walked away.foomanfat wrote:I'll jump on the "that 12th fret inlay is a bummer" wagon, as well.

Agreed, they're killer guitars! One of the better playing and sounding SGs I've ever tried/owned. Mine is so resonant with great sustain and a perfect setup that took minimal effort. I got the vintage sunburst, love both the look and feel of the finish.Krosis wrote:My cell phone's camera is crappy but here ya go. Even if I had a better camera, pics don't do it justice.

I ordered a 5-ply '61-style small guard for mine but it had to be custom cut as the 24 fret neck pushed the pickups a little closer to each other than normal. As a result, the standard Gibson guard wouldn't quite fit.foomanfat wrote:Man, an SG sans pickguard looks so strange to me.
Yeah, I never wanted anything but Gibson guitars when I was younger but just about everything they do these days horrifies me. The Firebird looks okay (because it's hard to make a Firebird look anything less than cool) but then they go and spoil it by putting stupid Steinberger tuners on it. And the pups will still sound like ass.friendship wrote:Every time Gibson releases new shit I always feel like they're really disorganized or confused or a committee of white collar MBA bros decided everything. What exactly is your angle, Gibson?
It's especially weird to me because I grew up thinking that owning a Gibson would be the Ultimate Shit, but now I've been repelled by pretty much everything they do for the past 10 years at least. If it's affordable, the quality control is abysmal. If it's a great guitar, it's prohibitively expensive.
