The guy who runs a local venue in my town has started roasting and selling coffee beans. It's amazing stuff and I'm way into it.
I drink my coffee black, but I can't drink more than a cup or so without it making me feel terrible. So I don't consume nearly as much coffee as I'd like to.

I love coffee. Black. I make it at home in a French Press with freshly ground medium roast beans.

I FUCKING LOVE COFFEE. HOwever, I've only had a few coffees that I like. My daily dose is whatever dark roast we have at home (often the Just Coffee 'bike fuel') with cream and hershey's syrup. What I actually like is a double mocha from Racy's here in Eau Claire. Every mocha I've had anywhere else actually sucks pretty hard. When I'm traveling I often go with just a regular dark roast with cream and a little sugar.

So, what I'm getting here is that some people here like good coffee and most people here like bad coffee.
I can't tell if you're telling me my taste in coffee is bad and I should feel bad, or if you're agreeing with me...

Agreeing.
Love Kona.
You, AA and wsas3 are the standouts so far in this thread. Everyone else seems to be drinking inferior brews of one sort or another.

Absolutely. French Press makes a gorgeous greasy delicious cup of coffee. I don't really drink much drip. Its espresso or press for me. The coffee oils are just far too yummy to lose them in a paper filter.

I don't drink coffee regularly and I haven't enjoyed a ton of different coffee I've tried. BUT I was just at this Vietnamese restaurant with a friend and she ordered a Vietnamese coffee.... holy hell. Really thick (almost like melted ice cream) with a strong smokey flavor. It was really great.

Mocha.
Made by cute barristinas that know what they're doing.
It's like having a tiny affair for the day.
My advice to you single men: don't get marrried.

Hmm…I forgot about those metal baskets. That probably helps out. Grinding fresh helps heaps too, this is part of what makes espresso so awesome, is the grinding seconds before its made.
Tomorrow is going to have to be a heavy coffee consumption day. All this coffee talk has me all hot and bothered.

Um... you gotta understand that a lot people where i live, in this nation, drink instant... vast majority of people even
being a student, i, too, drink instant

kind of worried about buying a french press, because i feel like it would got to waste - see, most coffees i've tasted are just too sour for me. And i do mean proper coffees... so i'm one of those idiots who take their coffee with milk and sugar
HOWEVER it's true that when i'm drinking proper coffee, i only take a few drops of milk and a tiny bit of sugar, to take the edge of

Mmmmm french press...
I'm enjoying a couple big cups right now after getting up at 4:30.
Usually my preference is a medium to dark roast. French is usually reliable, sometimes Italian, every now and then just a medium or house roast if I need something more subtle. My girlfriend isn't a huge fan of the darker roasts, so I try to get something that works for us both. I grind stuff fresh usually, so it is almost always good. A bit of half & half to balance it out and I'm in heaven. No sugar or milk. Gimme real cream or nothing!
When possible I like to get a big can of Trader Joe's whole bean coffee. It's cheap for the quantity but still pretty high quality. I like trying new stuff though. Nothing flavored (blegh). Local roasters are great for different stuff.
A nice latte hits the spot sometimes. Not a huge espresso fan on its own. I like taking my time with coffee. That's half of the joy, just relaxing while sipping it.
