ILF has proved time and time again. If you talk shit, they will come. LOL

JMJ turned me onto the Depth Charge as the means to get that NIN sound. Excane showed me that I had a boner for it after that. Who wins this boner battle? Wait...what?

I'd do a Assholemaster if it wasn't soooo, I dunno...brassy? Is that the right way to describe it? I had one, played with it, went "meh", and flipped it in a week. It was one of the most forgettable fuzz sounds I'd heard. The Oxide came along and kicked it right in it's ballsack and took over 90% of the same sound with more low end retention. You know us bass player and wanting those lows. That's what surprised me about the Ass, it seemed to take a ton away and I always thought that was it's main bragging point. Plus OMG the dude from Ministry. LOL

Anyway, JMJ is an awesome dude. The pedal on the other hand it not that impressive.

That iiiis true about the Oxide, borrowed one for a couple of weeks and damn if it doesn't nail this sound and also do a bunch of other stuff. That high-only fuzz mode is so tasty.

I do too. Maybe it was mic'd better, but it sounds fantastic here. The clean blend is great, and the fuzz is thick. Kinda wonder how it sounds on a guitar though...

Jesus...skip to 4:29 if you want to hear the pedal.

The quality of the demo improved, but I still am not digging the sound. It sounds like it absolutely destroys your low end. Either that or the way it was recorded is doing that. I'd try it, but I don't think I'd dig it as much as some.

Meh to Malekko. Meh

EDIT:

Had a relisten with better speakers and it sounds good. Still not something I'd hang onto but I'd like to try one now.

Ok, so, if it has a clean blend, how does it destroy your lows?

Not that I doubt the Jwar, but isn't that the entire point of having a clean blend?

Bro I just didn't hear it in the demo. That's all I'm saying. Plus...fuck a clean blend. I want a fuzz that already has lows. Duh.

Second listen with better speakers. It was probably my shit because there are lows now. LOL

MY bad guys...shit.

jrmy wrote:It's potentially interesting, but since it seems like he's saying it's related to the Assmaster, I'd like to see a side by side A/B test to hear where they differ.
THe Diabolik is similar to the Assmaster with the the switches in the left hand position (beefiest setting on the standard). The main difference tonally is that there is more low end passing through on both the clean and fuzz sides of the circuit, making it meatier sounding and darker than the standard B:Assmaster. I wish that the video with the Starcaster had better sound quality. I use mine with an Epiphone Jack Casady Signature and the end result is ENORMOUS!

It's Vegas relentless hyping of the Diabolik (and I think it's may sound awesome with my Manta) that got me to pull the
trigger on one yesterday. I'll try and get Malekko to send you a check, if they don't already :thumb:

They don't, but put in a good word for me.
I wound up having both the B:Assmaster and Diabolik on my board. The versatility on the B:Assmaster won me over years ago, but the lows on the Diabolik really took me by surprise! I was using a Depth Charge as my low end monster for about 6 years, but the Diabolik retired it.
