Yeah, I like it too. Sounds pretty good.
I can't remember who posted this/turned me on to it, but I dig what this chick's doing with her lap steel (among other instruments):

Old thread, but is seemed the appropriate place to post.
I just finished building a lap steel out of a piece of hardwood flooring and random parts lying around. The "nut" is the bridge from a 3/4 acoustic guitar, from which I also stole the fretboard, the tuners are off a no-name strat copy, and stock mim tele bridge plate and pickup. I made the saddle from a piece of round stock and two screws. It is not pretty, but it works!

Very cool. I'm working on a couple Diddley Bows (one string) that you can play lap or guitar style. One's a resonator. Cool what kind of functional awesome stuff you can make with just a bit of effort!

Thanks guys. I came across an old vintage one for $100, but they had no amp to test it (antique shop). I almost pulled the trigger, but figured I could make on for (nearly) free instead. I did have to buy potentiometers. I think my favorite part is the single straight saddle I made. VAST improvement over the 6 individual "Hammer/vintage" saddles that are stock and rattle like no tomorrow.

Cool build! I'm thinking about building a Lapsteel myself,
already got one, but it would be nice to make one out of
driftwood or other cool looking wood I can get for free.

My lapsteel is a Recording King.
Nothing fancy but it stays in tune and sounds like the lapsteel in my head.
Also got a pedal steel guitar. Do not got pedal steel guitar skills.

Plus, you can use your existing one as a template. Do it to it!

I probably will, just need to find time and materials, and finish some other projects first.

Just saw that Epiphone is releasing a lap steel for about $250, which is much more aesthetically pleasing than the Peavey Power Slide I've been using for the last 2 or 3 years.

Looks pretty nice, very classic:
Nicer than the more recent Gretschs too.

And it's designed by a person named "Herb Sunshine," so
