in the new Moog video, we can hear the new signature Jazzy
the GAS is strong with this video, but for me, with the guitar in particular
Anyone know what amp Troy is using in that video? I thought it was Josh who had all the tone in QotSA, but damn Troy!

He's been using handwired AC30s live for the last few years. Not sure about that vid tho...

What's the deal with trem placement, what's the difference between closer and farther from the bridge? Third bridge toans?

closer = higher break angle = less string slip + more sustain
It has the side effects of making it look really ugly, making the vibrato sweep kinda awkward, and exacerbating tuning issue by holding the strings in the saddles tighter (not helped by the mexico plant putting tune-o-matic style bridges on everything).

Yeah, the way the trem felt was completely boner deflating.

This.
And it def looks stupid when compared to normal placement.
And it loses a lot of that unique behind the bridge string ring that a Jazzy is known for.

Functionally, I kinda prefer the moved trem placement. Looks like crap though, and behind the bridge doesn't sound quite as nice.
But screw tune-o-matic bridges, doesn't solve anything.

I've played a few CP Jazzys/Jags. I didn't like most of them, but i firmly believe it was not because of the bridge, because i liked some of them... the bridge placement certainly DOES make a difference in playing behind the bridge, though...
If I had the money, I still firmly believe, I'd be all over this ASAP

I have a MIM and I agree it looks wack and bends weird but it stays in tune and doesn't slip... I got it with an upgraded bridge and I don't know what it is and I think it's backwards but it's cool... I wish the Mastery woulda fit though...

Apparently you can install a Mastery, you just have to get the M1-Kit model and replace the TOM thimbles. Same goes for mustang bridges/staytrem. I'm gonna try this on my J Mascis when I can afford it because the bridge is the only thing that pisses me off, rest of the guitar is perfect.

Honestly.....i would just purchase the staytrem bridge. I have a mastery and i think its great but it has a glaring design flaw. Its meant to be dropped down almost flush with the body to increase sustain and it definitely does this but the problem is that when you do this not noly do you have to pull your shims which creates all kinds of string buzz but the lower bridge also brings the strings into contact with the baseplate screws on the trem, which creates these awful sympathetic ringing sounds and worsens the string buzz. I went to the hardware store to look for some flathead screws but immediately realised that in order to use flatheads you would need to countersink the screw holes. This is annoying because the baseplate for the trem is chrome plated and boring a countersink would absolutely fuck the finish up...if it could even be done. I question the feasability of this because i have no idea what metal the baseplate is made out of. I have a suspicion that its just regular ass cast babbit, in which case trying to drill a nice countersink is a fools errand.
Mastery bridge has replacement trems coming out towards the end of the year but honestly if they cant get them to market at a pricepoint of around $150, which i seriously doubt will happen, they can forget my business.

Interesting, may as well go for the staytrem then, its nearly half the price of a Mastery anyway. And it would work with standard JM thimbles which are like $10.

MASTERY IS COOLER LOOKING... Staytrem looks like butts...
I would've had to dowel and redrill for a MIM CP so they gave me my money back and when I have an American or AVRI I will promptly get another...
