I have a Rat Tail and I have an Elements. Both are great but the Elements is obviously more versatile. I like them both at lower gain setting. The Elements can sound more natural, as where the Rat Tail sounds like a Rat, which is what you might be into. I would suggest a Rat Tail over an Iron Horse any day though.

Vaguely. It's closer to a Dist+/250, I believe.

I will +1 a Rat Tail, I've owned eight different Rat variants, and if I didn't have my big box, I'd still have a Rat Tail. I just enjoy both the Rat and the Elements. And, the Elements can provide you with a world of tones if you are willing to work with it. Whereas, a Rat sounds like a Rat. One of my favorites, but still, a Rat.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Fuck OD. It's not as "grungy" but it can get gritty with the cracke switch. Not as high gain as a few others but I think it has plenty of gain as is. I love mine. Though, I also love my Rat Tail and my Elements. And speaking of 250's, I thought my old yellow 250 sounded incredible at full range. Specially through an amp on the verge of break up. I definitely miss mine from time to time. Thought it made a killer bass distortion too.

Have you though of the Mountainking Electronics Ruckus II?

It's the blown Marshall with rip speaker type of drive.

I wish that my Orange took my Elements pedal better. My Elements sound waaaay more brutal than my ENGL Screamer.

i'm right there with you, bro... i was very lucky when i got my custom finish Fuck OD, because a user "solarolosonoio" runs/used to run a pedal distribution in portugal i think and he had some for a great price here in BST

it's a great pedal and can get quite nasty, that's true... but it really is more of an OD - not very compressed. Whereas Rat seems way more compressed and i'd say it will not clean up as nicely - and that's what you want
