meaning; I obviously want the throat locust, but i'm not sure I want something that is there purely for stacking with that can't be used on its own.
ah I see, that makes sense! I think why people talk about it quite a lot is that until recently it was quite a "hidden" function in the HM-2. You can obviously chainsaw

How does everyone power their HM-2? Is it best to use a 12v adapter?

I use the 12v on my power supply but IIRC it also works when you daisy chain it

PP2 will work great with the dip switch flipped away from normal

Get some sort of octave fuzz made for bass so it has a blend that way you can mix the amount of over blown fuzz with your HM-2 standard sound. This will give you a basically suped up DOD Punkifier type deal with flexibility

Jamming with some doom people tomorrow, basically testing out a few things in the order.... running a rat into HM2 into Dungeon Master into Behringer Super Fuzz into a bass EQ.

I'm partial to HM-2 into Blue Box, but it's Roland S. Howard on crack at that point.

Hey! I found an old (shoddily recorded...) video I made a few years ago for a buddy who was interested in HM-2s!

44 seconds of MT-2 into Arion Metal Master (99% sure that’s an HM-2, right?

), then 11 seconds of pure, unadulterated HM-2 on HM-2 action!
...then, for whatever reason, it loops around, so...
The Arion had some crazy dirty pots, so forgive the crackling and cutting out, but it kinda adds to the flavor, right?!
Signal chain was SG w/ 57s into a Matamp MiniMat recorded via iPhone mic, so the video doesn’t do near a good enough job of conveying just how much low end is happening, especially with that Arion. Seriously, that thing shakes a room and shreds the midrange like nothing else!

I used to run a Blue Box into a Metal Zone -mids up, gain maxed- back in the day! I used to call it my “poor man’s PLL”

I run a MZ and the Blue Box parallel sometimes, but...I have a HM-2, HM-3, and MZ-2 on the board with an ES-8 controlling the fun.

Hah. The GL-100 stereo pair in my rack is fed by the ES-8 and the rest.

About Rat into HM-2: beware the HM-2’s compression. If the Rat (or anything else out front) is pushing a really hot output level with the HM-2 in line, you might be surprised how fucking loud it will be when you bypass the HM-2. Scared me the first time I did that.

Rat into Super Fuzz was the clear winner for me, HM-2 into Super Fuzz was the runner up. Dungeon Master wasn’t exactly turning my crank last night for some reason.
