Nasally as in a huge bump in the mid/high mids?

To my ears, the elements with the mids dimed can get a very pleasant nasally distortion. I personally never used the elements in a fuzzy sense, more for the articulate distortion realm. I just prefer a higher gain fuzz for thick toanz. The muff sound always seemed warm and thick to me.
When I think warm and thick, i think of a slight mid scoop with some heavy bass, low mids, and a slight treble bite.

Yep. Use the bass cut to decide how loose or tight you want the distortion, then add or cut the bass with the tone knob to get the sound you're after. Treble control is fixed around 3khz, but the three way mid switch can dial in whatever you want for nasality.
Link a sound you're after and I'll try and dial it in for you and put up a YouTube demo.

Sheesh, you guys, why isn't this thread in the Dwarfcraft forum? You all know the Eau Claire Thunder is what's needed here.

I would try a Pharaoh first off, since they're cheaper and would likely fit the bill.
