The maintenance guy, who then discovered I had a pet rat and freaked.

Because we have a maintenance guy who's afraid of rodents.

The shit you cannot make up.

whats wrong with a normal cab/combo and a couple mics in front of it?

modeling shit is garbage imo, cept for maybe the kemper, i thought about getting one but i changed my mind.

thinking about getting a princeton, it's either gonna be a princeton or reverberocket

but this thread is about tiny amps, goddammit!

If volume issues are part of your recording process, then that's the problem with mic/cab normal stuff.

I want to get screaming mean at 3 am, which is what the modeller/iso cab comes in handy for.

The only real function of a "tiny" amp IMO is to get screaming mean without being arrested or deported.

Yeah, I'm not really sure about my neighbors yet. Luckily I have a 2 story house w basement to myself (sick middle-class brag). My studio is in an upstairs room, only other option is to put it in the basement, aaaaaaaaaaaand fuck that.

Drumkit would have to go there, other than that, fuck sitting in a cold basement.

That would likely solve any noise issues, though.

You should get either get a meatsmoke or a thunderverb 200. Anything else will just be too quiet after the tinnitus sets in.

If I'm going to lose my hearing, I want it to be from killer amps and good music.

Beats air tools in a closed garage or backpack leafblowers...

Also FWIW a 5w 1x12 combo has the potential to sound *louder* than a 50w head w/half stack.
It's all about speaker sensitivity/efficiency.

Also LDC > Dynamic miking of guitar cabs. I prefer to hear some space, and depth...

You've also got another option, assuming you're willing to do a bit of wiring - run speaker cable from your amp to a cab in the basement, mic, run mic cable back up. Rock on at obscene volumes.

Iso cabs, I had mine built by a local guy. I know the Jet City one wasn't terrible (a friend got one after using mine for a few tracks and he seemed happy), but your options are pretty limited unless you build. But if you have space and all, you can build one yourself for relatively cheap.

hah, yeah, thanks for the brainstorming, but neither one of those things are going to happen

yeah, or a 10"...IIRC the good ones have some kind of internal baffling to keep it from JUST sounding like a speaker in a closed container.

Acoustic foam, fiberglass insulation, etc.

Mine has a littlebit of both I believe.

You could also buy a power soak with a DI.

I almost wen that route but I was cheap.
