A good input and output buffer pretty much negates the capacitance effect of the cable though.

I still use one of the same Ernie Ball cables that I bought back in college... so that would date it as at least 17 years old (ye gads!). It's still chuggin' along, transmitting my electrical signals just fine.
Meanwhile, I've had sets held up for almost an hour because a bandmate had a cable failure, "but it couldn't possibly be the brand new expensive cable." (hint: it was)
That said, I fully accept that I may just be lucky, and/or I may be losing 75% of my signal due to crappy cables, and am just too hearing impaired to notice it.

I don't think people can handle hearing more than 25% of your signal anyway dude!

No idea, I went to checkout just to see how much it would be since it usually costs an arm and a leg
And it didn't charge anything
Maybe just a fluke?

has anyone found a differnce
between lava hicons
and other pancakes
to justify the price
when i was comparing a few months back
didnt find much difference
besides colors of the parts they use
somebody had one on their board
anyone else try them yet
and are they worth it

or less confrontationally, the majority of folks here have either concluded that the amount of difference that cable capacitance makes is de minimis compared to the amount of signal damage we're causing with our effects, or run buffered pedals somewhere in their chains. we've largely given up on True Bypass 4eva. between my regular board and my looping board i've got more buffers than an OTC pain reliever.

Have any of you guys who make your own cables tried the bulk from
this place?
Mogami 2524 equivalent for $0.42-$0.52/foot. Canare GS-6 (supposedly superior) equivalent for $0.68-$0.78/foot.
I usually use Canare GS-6, but it has become really expensive.

I buy all my cable from a local place, it's on a big spool, I have no idea what it is but it is the most flexible I could find and wicked cheap
I bought pancakes from them as well but the insulators on the top of the jacks were poorly designed so I had to tuck in a little piece of tape.
Worked Great!!! and they were crazy cheap!
Plus after 25 pedals I am pretty sure I could just use tinfoil and a coat hanger
