oh, and re: Courtney, is it no longer a family reunion after Dad dies? then how can it not be a "reunion" of the guys in Nirvana because Kurt killed himself?

and i say this as someone who actually likes Courtney in a perverse sort of way.

Yeah :) But it's gott'a be a little bit hard to get up there and play bass with Paul and not feel a little bit intimidated... if not skill then just that dude is most likely the worlds most famous bassist :idk:

Not to mention he possessed at least 80% of the musical talent in that band. In addition to the bass, he was the best vocalist, best guitarist (it's true, he could play circles around George, and John could barely play), by far the best pianist (not counting george martin) and the best drummer (he basically played most of the drums on the white album when ringo "quit", and he always did the drums on all of his own songs from that point on.)

And let's not forget that he plays the short scale cigar box.

I agree with Paul being the most musically talented. Just my opinion. John was maybe more experimental. Ringo and George could certainly hold their own, but I think when it came to writing Paul was the guy. Sorry, I know this thread is about the Nirtles, not the Beatles.

All Things Must Pass is still the best solo Beatles record, so I can't really buy into any Paul-lovefest.

He was certainly the most pop-centric minded Beatle.

And fuck Wings. There's one cool part in Band on the Run.

I've honestly never really understood the George lovefest. None of his playing ever wowed me. :idk: He even had to have Clapton come in and do the lead for him on While My Guitar Gently Weeps because he couldn't nail the sound he wanted. George couldn't come up with anything for the lead in Taxman, either, so they had Paul take a run at it. And those two solos ripped more than any George lead I can recall.

Honestly, it's more a matter of thinking that the band was made up of 3 phenomenal songwriters, but none of them were amazing players. Definitely none should be on any best :insert instrument here: player lists.

And I never cared for much of any solo stuff from the lot of them. :idk:
