I wrote this shit and accidentally closed the tab

Basically, I mostly wrote one guitar of every imaginable model kinda. Instead, I'll just say my two main guitar goals:
Mod my SG to have a bigsby, get pickguard to have a humbucker in the bridge and a slanted single coil in the neck, and then a BLK TRI Crone/BKS combo. Other potential option is the ghost coil pickup.

Buy a Ampeg AMG100. Or a different Travis bean type guitar. Or a tele. Or a baritone. Or a semi-acoustic. Or a Jazzmaster. Ugh fuck

Dream amp is like an Ampeg V4

Pedals: based purely on what I want this would take all day. I shift between something simple like overdrive>fuzz>delay>big spring reverb tank and wanting a PT-grande filled with everything imaginable. Just changing up for what I'm planning for my board now is:
RV-3>DOD 250*>Algal Bloom>Fat Fuzz Factory*>CT5>Generation Lost>Supa Trem>Memory Loss>El Capistan>Space>Timebender
*=don't own yet
Ideally, I'd like to use the timebender earlier in the chain. Now it's mostly a looper and glitch device. And CT5 is just preordered

Picks:just like .73s or .81s or something

I play in two bands, one inspired by doom and drone stuff, one more post-rocky. This would be the board to use with both

As for a tabletop/synth setup I'm pretty happy with my OP-1, 4 track tape recorder and the microgranny. I would add a blofeld and a few sequencers to this rig too though

Yeah I hear ya. I don't have anything against contemporary guitars...but this is the dream thread afterall. I don't really dream of owning anything in production...
I only have 2 guitars, 1 of which is on my dreamlist. The '63 Casino E230T which was NOT cheap [2k+] but there's no modern repro available with the single p90 in middle position
And my #1, a far-east Memphis DuoSonic clone from 1980 or so [it was under $100]

Whenever I just want to practice or write riffy stuff...I reach for my cheapy. Even when I get an actual Duo Sonic, it will remain in use. It has such a dirty sound and my most familiar feel as it was the first electric 6stringer I picked up. It's nice being able to completely zone out while playing it. There're no worries of dinging it or bumping into things with the headstock, whereas the Epi has me being extra aware of my surroundings when I take it out.

And you just reminded me
I also want a Space Echo, Stage Echo, Copicat, Ackuset, Long Tom...and Echorec. Or 5 :snax:

To be honest, at this point, the dream is a particular sound or feel.

That's not any particular style or approach, just filling a gap I don't have. And those days are shrinking fast at thirteen electrics and basses. :)

I have stuff I'd *like* but if I dream about something for more than a month or two, then I figure out how to buy it!
And my #1, a far-east Memphis DuoSonic clone from 1980 or so [it was under $100]
Had a couple Memphis guitars of that era. Neither one had anything wrong with it and was perfectly serviceable. The LP copy had a ply death body but you'd never guess if you hadn't looked at it, it sounded pretty good for a rock LP. Had no subtlety at all, but...that's why I bought it at the time. Frets got thrashed and it became a wallhanger at a friends.

Had another (a lawsuit 335 with proper Gibson HS) that was actually damn good but it just didn't have that spark that spoke to me. I found a dude who wanted it far more than I and sent it on its way. It did tell me that if I ever found my hands on a Casino or a no-f-hole 335ish guitar to get them.

So I did when I had the chance. :)

Yea, I end up grabbing a cheapie half the time - have a half dozen guitars in immediate reach, varying from stupid cheap ($200 Squier Mustang) to the newish LP Studio High Performance (just under 2k). Depends on what vibe I want or what the mood strikes, but cheap wins a lot more often than it should.
There're no worries of dinging it or bumping into things with the headstock, whereas the Epi has me being extra aware of my surroundings when I take it out.
Yea, I trashed my first guitar (a MIA Hamer Standard, circa '79 or 80) that way playing live. Didn't realize at the time you could get them repaired...

Now with no playing live, I don't have to worry as much. I wouldn't own two hollowbodies otherwise, that was the main reason I didn't for a long, long time. A couple weeks on a shit little tour with a then-ok Epi Sheraton II and it was damn near dead, I was vicious even in polite van tours where I was the only one handling it.
And you just reminded me

Everyone needs a Space Echo. Or two.

I'd kill for another RE-301 to complete my nostalgia rig but....not at corksniffer TGP prices, fuck you Brian Setzer.

I get there near 100% with what I have (either digital or the 150) but....I just miss my old one irrationally. It's not a need, just a "if I had a few thousand bucks dropped on my head with no strings..." item. Probably wouldn't even get used much is the irony, the rest of my nostalgia rig sure doesn't.

Wow, this is a blast from the past! My original post in here is hilariously bad, but fuck it, it was 7 1/2 years ago. My bass rig went in basically the exact opposite direction from my "dream rig" but I love it now.

My real response is an EGC Guitar and an Axe-Fx.

You play a Squier bass with flats thru an old Peavey head?

Well my "dream bass rig" was basically a modern-sounding active bass through a clean modern hifi bass amp, whereas my current rig is a Ric 4001 that's older than me through a dirty as fuck clone of a 1959 Super Lead. Pretty close to the opposite sound I wanted in 2009. The fx aren't all that different though. I'd still love to have the entire Dwarfcraft lineup plus all the Moogers.

Yeah, I kinda assumed, was just joking. My bass rig is my dream rig, and it's a Peavey T-40 thru a GK800rb into an ampeg 810. Flats. I can't stand ultra modern hi-fi bass sounds. Like nails on a chalkboard to me. Or Korn. Clank clank clank clank. Give me practically a sine wave, and if I want more harmonic content there's dirt.

Modern bass rigs have gotten ridic like car audio subwoofer systems. 1000, 2000, 3000w+ setups for heart-murmur inducing power...with 31band graphic eq...to perfectly sculpt tone nobody wants to hear.

Nice rig btw :thumb:
Flatwounds+smooth neck+tube PA is a recipe I think you'll like, if not live then in the studio. Glorious harmonic content before & after breakup, with or without pedals. Or a Portaflex, obv...because damn near everyone who plugs into one is like "oh, I see. How much?"

I don't really have an actual dream set up. I have a dream of being able to play the bass better some day, but it's been 20 years...sooooooooooooo...yea, when's that going to happen??? ;)

I love this rig. It does so many things for so many styles of music. Fretless is harder, but sounds so much better. I had an SVT once, but it was awful for my back, and I like this GK just as much. Maybe i will have an Ampeg again. Portaflexes seem really nice.

For me, the Ric 4001 -> Super Lead/Bass rig is perfect, the only change I would make is bigger/better/more cabs. I wouldn't mind adding a Moog to the rig too.
