Solo around 3:30. One of my favorite solos of anything evar. It's kinda weird to figure out, no good tabs plus he's using a wah, delay, something in reverse, other other stuff probs. But it's challenging enough to try and figure out. Totes recommend this one.

I don't know if either of these are what you're looking for but they're good songs to learn, I think.

The solo on "What is and what should never be" by Led Zeppelin to learn slide guitar, it's a pretty easy solo to play.
The solo on "Kid Charlemagne" by Steely Dan. tough solo, jazz/rock leaning more towards jazz.

I feel bad because while these suggestions are useful, I'm no where near being able to figure out a song by ear and then figure out the solo to it. I tried using an interval trainer app on my phone, but I don't feel like I was getting better.

I think I need to get the songbook to Led Zeppelin I ( tabs, natch, since I can read a little music for piano but can't for guitar) and try to improve by learning that kind of stuff first.

Kind of feel like I'm at a disadvantage because I didn't start playing guitar at 12 or 13 and then practice every day since then. Although I've found that as an adult, I'm far more willing to slow something I'm working on down, really focus on the movements and eliminate sloppy stuff, and play it a dozen (or dozens) of times. As a kid, when I practiced an instrument,
I would sloppily play something once or twice, not really get it down, and then move on either in frustration or impatience.

Yeah, if I want to learn something and there's no tab, I'm out. But if I reeeeeeallllly want to learn something and there's no tab, I'll figure it out. Or try to.... haha

But I don't ever worry about notes and chords and stuff. To practice, I try to write something new that I can't play or a new way to play around with some chords or just make up my own chords. I try to think of something that sounds good in my head and then try to figure it out on an acoustic or something like dat. I think I just worry less about the technicality of playing and more whether I can make good sounds.

And I'm only 19 and didn't start playing until I was almost in high school. And that was with bass. I didn't start playing guitar until 15 or 16. And I didn't buy my own until like 2 years ago. I sold my xbox for a way-too-cheaply-priced strat that I love.

The one thing I have found is that what I have been doing, as part of the really-slowly-practice-all-the-shit-dozens-of-times practicing, is that I've got the main major scale patterns and the pentatonic/blues patterns all under my fingers now, so when I start playing tabs, I can kind of work out in my head what scale pattern is underneath the notes, and then from there figure out the key. It's not instantaneous and I've gotta work through it and sometimes count up the neck, because I'm lame, but I'm getting better..
