The Algal Bloom is such a great pedal. Everyone I've let play mine is blown away by how versatile it is, and how awesome it is at so many different settings.
I didn't realize just how versatile it was until I started twisting the knobs because for so long I just plugged it in and was like wow I dont need to change this setting!!! I had some distant and sickly crunchy punk tones today. It is just so fuzzy while retaining the note definition when you are digging into a chord.

Ughhhhh. You guys are making me want a bass bloom. I really liked what the Algal Bloom did when I had one, but it was missing something on bass. And then Tom went and fixed that.

Open tunings, big muffs and something to make it warble and whoosh.

THIS IS WHY THERE ARE TREM ARMS ON JAZZMASTERS, PEOPLE
JUST BEND IT, BEND EM REAL GOOD.
On a serious note, since I don't have a trem arm, I've been playing the intended chord a half step down and bending up. It's pretty fantastic.

Yeah I bend instead of trem arm. I've just got this really big paranoid fear of trem arming and then everything going out of tune

Nah dude, totally legit. I like all the squeaks and tiny noises that guitars make when you aren't playing notes

if i could get my shit to sound like an old subway car
on bad clunky tracks
with a crying homeless man
a jesus freak
some dude singin along with his ipod
and a loose door sliding open and closed

that for me is "the tone"

just gonna add some AB love and say that its so versatile i don't really have any gas for other fuzzes besides the superfuzz. which i now have. so gas satiated.
i also love how frippy/synthy it gets
