Dopamine, from China (or Hong Kong, can't remember) fucking rocks for the shoegazey inspired black metal. Really one of my favorites. Very melodic and romantic sounding. Not very "trve" or "kvlt" sounding by any means, but they're certainly very unique.



Here's a track from a band called Onryo that definitely has that early My Bloody Valentine buzz to it, especially with those cracked out drum fills.

Beeing mostly into the 90s stuff I find it hard to like a lot of the newer more ambient stuff. too pretty for me. Didnt like Nortt at all for example.

Deathspell Omega is maybe the only new band I really like.

Deathspell Omega is pretty damn awesome. Love the new album. Nortt is more doom than straight black metal I guess...Which is why I like it so much. It sounds like a very slow Burzum to me.

Has anyone heard Votnutt before? It is super crust punky, but it is most certainly rooted in black metal too. Their debut is about 7 songs long, clocking in at about 10 minutes total. Incredibly vicious and unforgiving. One of my favorite albums of the year thus far.

The Slow Kill in the Cold by Silencer is one of my favorites...But those vocals are incredibly disturbing. Hard to listen to at times!
