Listen to Holy Schnikes he know's his El Cap and Timeline stuff. Coincidentally that's the combo I'm using, even after I got the timeline I kept the El Cap for two reasons, I was able to dial in my ideal delay setting (the setting i use the most) and saved it as the preset so its easily recallable at the click of a button (fav switch ftw!) without going through banks of presets, and also the sound on sound looper function, which the timeline doesnt have. The timeline has the looper but the sound on sound is very different and to me indispensible for ambient looping soundscapes. Running the sound on sound on the el cap into a pattern delay (or reverse, or lo-fi....) on the timeline will blow your head off. :!!!:

Oh and Shannon I think the timeline is 11 more delay / noisemaking options. :idk:

Can the El Capistan do a "clean" loop? I know the point of the thing is to do weird tape loops and stuff, but, if I needed it as an option, can it do a 1:1 loop? I assume that I would turn the "tape age" all the way down so as to be "new tape".

Thanks bros!

Hey man if you turn the tape age all the way down it still deteriorates but it just starts to get really harsh and bright after a while. Somewhere between about 9 and 12 o clock is where it's pretty neutral EQ-wise, but it will deteriorate no matter where the "tape age" control is set. I think you'll find that pristine loops are for suckers anyways :P

And RaggedTrousers - Youz mah gear homie. The fuck overdrive and el cap are pretty much all I need

Correct indeedy, 12 total delay "machines" in that sob. It's apparent I don't use my TL to it's full potential as that would require too much dedication. One day.......;)

Also true, sound-on-sound is uniquely badass and should be a highlight on proposed Ultimate Dedicated Looper.

With a board as vast and expansive as yours it would be hard to use all of them. :thumb:

Agreed, a looper with selectable tones would be awesome. I saw your FB post to Strymon, I liked it, and then I liked it. If the UDL was the size of the timeline, with a decent amount of tone choices I'd be all over it.

I spent a good five seconds reading the title of this thread and thinking "of course they exist, you already know what they are!"
