Apparently this does not work with iPhone 5 and up and maybe have issues with iOS 6.1.3 and up.
I have done minimal research on this but read a few things about it.

Echoes of pains keeping the MagicStomp editor running. It was made for XP, was a no-to for Vista, and I think there's a workaround for 7.

I just got one today.
I have iOS 7 on my iPad 2, and just loaded up a few different ones to test it.
It worked for me.

good to know. I think a lot of that issues were with devices using the Lightning Cable to 30-pin adapter.

did you pick it up at GC? $50?

Not sure if I want to pull the trigger on this or not.

Dunno if you've already seen the product page: http://www.digitech.com/en-US/products/istomp
Click on the "View e-pedals" button and you can look at a summary of each and here a demo (which lets you toggle the effect on and off).

These are now $50 in the USA and £50 in the UK and the platform seems to be facing extinction. I should add that all but one of the emulations are now free.

Has anyone tried one? Is it worth £50?

Do you need the iStomp to use the pedal emulators, or can you use them directly on an iPad or phone? I wouldn't want to bother with the emulator, but if I could just plug in to my iPad and use them on there, that'd be cool...

All the DSP happens on the pedal. The app just handles the programming.
