right on, it's a way awesome upgrade - make the guitar bullet-proof - you can just wail into it and it HOLDS!

loc tite isn't too much of a PITA. Find the purple stuff if you can, but the blue works...you just might have to heat it up to get it to break free if you want to change your settings. Not that big of a deal.

Had used the Mastery for close to two years. It's expensive. Improvements are that it increases sustain, is better at preventing string slippage, and the bridge is almost fixed, in that it the bridge posts are thick enough to prevent the bridge from "floating" like the original.

Increased sustain is personal - some like it - I found that it changed the character of "that JM sound".... but not enough to get my nickers in a bunch.
No string-slippage goes without saying. WIN
The "almost" fixed bridge position is a nice thought... but because there is still a gap (due to what are probably near-impossible machining tolerances) it can cause rattle.

Where it fails (miserably)... is that you STILL have to loc-tite, snot, candle wax, glue, whatEVER... all the little screws - or it performs equally as shitty as the original. Lowering mid-song... rattling all to fuck...

And once you have THAT licked (temporarily) - in the case of mine - IT STILL FUCKING RATTLES!

Seriously? For what it costs? It's lovely and all.. but really?

Enter Staytrem - less expensive, and less fancy packaging... but does exactly what it's supposed to.
No snot, glue, cum... nothing. It works. Drop it in - the radius is perfect. It won't change. Adjust the height - it stays. It won't change - and more importantly, it won't change mid-song (or set). Make adjustments... same thing. Stays.
String-slippage hasn't been an issue... it doesn't rattle, it doesn't come undone or self-adjust... it does what it should and it's really not all that much money, considering it ends all the problems associated with the stock bridges.
It maintains (more closely) that original "offset sound", with the over-rings and such, and only adds a slight stiffness with all of it's stability.

The only short-coming I've found comes down to personal taste - and it's that it isn't fixed. I use the trem a LOT, but I prefer my bridge not float. But that's easily fixed with a few winds of electrical tape.
Done and DONE.

Also, fwiw, the "staytrem" on the Marr, isn't an actual Staytrem and is prone to it's own issues.
It's close... but not quite there.

I had this issue too until i un-shimmed the neck on my jazzmaster....that cured it for me.

JM's are really hard to track down rattles on - that long tail trem makes ghost noises like crazy. Part of the charm, like you said.

Good to know. I thought about trying to mod the Marr bridge, but it might just be easier to get an actual Staytrem.

I've got one on my Richenbacker and dig it a bunch. Definite improvement.

I've got one of their Bigsby Tele bridges sitting in my desk drawer, waiting for a body. Really stoked to see how it works out.

Another vote for the Staytrem here. I use one on my Jazzmaster (7.5" radius) and it's amazingly good. I actually like the fact that it floats like a stock JM bridge. I also use the trem a lot and don't have any tuning issues - everything just works as it should. Simple setup, too - just drop it in, get the height right and then go through the easiest intonation you're ever likely to do. It's a great bridge.

The response of the Bigsby changed a bit after putting the Mastery bridge on the Tele, likely because it doesn't float like the Jag bridge. I hear that the Bigsbys from Japan come through with weaker springs so I may try a heavier spring to see if it brings some of the wiggle back.

I had contacted Staytrem to see if their bridge would work with the Bigsby but was told that they would need to mod it a bit for string clearance.

I use a Mastery bridge and it definitely improved the stability and sound of my Jaguar. I haven't noticed the screws becoming loose or the bridge lowering over time but it has only been installed for about six months.

It certainly is expensive but I think it's worth considering if a Jaguar or Jazzmaster is your main guitar.

Also voting for staytrem! Switched from mastery to staytrem on both my jazzmasters. Its much more stable, and can take a beating without having to start tinkering with the allen key...

i'm not sure what to think about the fact .. that 2 pieces of black electrical tape > solve so much buzz
i was up late last night. noticed the annoying buzz from the bridge screws rattling
and. the G and B tuners are loose. so they buzz a bit. and those strings were slipping a little.

No Joke. No Buzz. i guess i can try and use some super glue in the loose spots?
most people have the offset bridge. anyone have a Mastery Tele Bridge? any issues?
i'm pretty sure things can be tightened and setup better.
but. i've set it up. my tech set it up. and now this?
it sounds/ feels really good. these little issues are kinda strange.
