I really think Souvlaki has to be one of the greatest albums of all time, shoegaze or not. Feels like you're on a cloud the whole time you're listening to it.

I think I'm with dubkitty on liking Slowdive's other stuff more as a whole.
However, "Alison" is one of my favorite songs, my favorite Souvlaki song, and the song I think of when I see "Slowdive". The imagery in it, everything about that song is just right.
Their Peel Session songs are amazing. I also like the Avalyns.

Speaking of that, the Alison's Halo album "Eyedazzler" is pretty fucking good.

They put out some pretty fantastic EPs too, the self-titled one being my favorite. I think that Just For A Day had some mixing (issues according to the band). There are some great songs on that one too, though!

To me they always struck a perfect balance between the fuzzier side of the scene with the more washed out side.

But enough of Slowdive, does anyone here dig Bowery Electric?

Perhaps not the greatest of all time, but surely one of the bestest gazey bands out and about these days. I saw these guys (for the third time) last night and they just killed it. That jag into a giga delay and a space echo made the hugest shifting wall of noise. So dreamy!
