Not really related to what I listen to now, but it was the album that broke me out of my metal phase. Made me realize I shouldn't judge things by genre, that I should just enjoy 'music'.

only some of the more recent ones come to mind

this for beautiful drum machines and guitar. the broken tones and percussiveness opened my mind to a more expressive style of playing

tera melos in general, but specifically melodies 2, 3, and 5 and 40 rods to the hog's head

beautiful structure, build, and noise

Hell yes to "Drugs to the Dear Youth." It blows me away how they all stay together playing that stuff, and as you said 40 Rods is

& I'm digging this Fuck Buttons track; always meant to get into them more. Thanks for reminding me

man, some of you dudes are young. it's weird, i think if you really care about music that it's inevitable that there will be LOTS of these records out there, especially when you're in your teens and early 20s. anyway, to just answer the fucking question.

This came out when I was 15. I got it right after my 15th birthday with bucks I got from my grandma. It's all been fucked ever since.

This made me want to pick up a guitar in the first place, and snapped me out of my early teen pop years in a big bad way. Still sounds fucking amazing, and Noel Gallagher remains a hero of mine to this day.

The Welsh "In Utero". Funnily enough this came out on the same day as the Oasis album I mentioned. This took me longer to "get" but taught me that music could be heavy without veering into "metal", with some fucked-up lyrics to boot, ranging from anorexia and capital punishment to the Holocaust.

Probably wouldn't have discovered Isis if I hadn't been compelled to pick up Oceanic after I found out they were opening for Tool.
