I normally wouldn't either, but, about have the time I've read a write up on the Vintage Rat it's called a fuzz... And I sold off mine so long ago I really don't remember how it sounded... which is why every now and then I gas for another, but then I remember how long my first one sat around unused
I always find the line between distortion and fuzz to be pretty blurry, so I usually smush them together. I mean, there are several instances of famous guys using rats in a "bass fuzz" sort of context, i.e. early chancellor and novoselic
I owned a rat, it seemed fuzzy enough: I will not particpate in an "Are Rats Fuzz??" Poll
Some of us are still recovering from the offset polls!!
I think some of these it depends on settings, I think my arc flash can get OD/DIST/Fuzz Tones pretty easily.
