dubkitty wrote:seems to me an aluminum guitar that thin is going back to the original problem they had with the Velenos...they were so thin that they were unstable tuning-wise because they expanded/contracted with temperature fluctuation. Todd Rundgren said the stage lights made his Veleno go out of tune.
Though that is a logical concern, it doesn't explain the insanely huge amount of bands using EGC instruments these days. I don't think that Isis and Torche would be using them if they went out of tune easily. In fact, when I saw Torche live, I was surprised by how little the bass player had to tune. He only turned on his tuner to tune between drop-D and standard.

Finally gave in to the Space GAS last week, it's awesome, although overkill for a reverb. It's like part 'verb/part delay/part modulation/part weird noisemaker.
That and the Timeline should keep me busy for quite awhile!

I'm actually enjoying my Toronado so much, right now I'm leaning towards having Kevin @ K-Line make me a custom offset with 'buckers.

i wasn't referring to the EGC guitars there...i was referring to the Obstructures, which seem terribly thin to the point of diminishing returns. the EGCs look fine.

I could never spend more than $600 on a single guitar. I wouldn't be able to play it. I barely touch even my MIM Strat because I'm afraid of doing something to it. I like cheap old guitars like the Korean old Korean Squiers, Teiscos, Kay, and Harmonys. But thats just me.

The only reason why i'd be afraid of buying and beating up say... PRS is that they look incredibly stupid while not in pristine condition

it's an instrument and when i play it i'm not afraid of any battle scars... it's rock'n'roll and the instrument should not look like it's locked up in a safe
ps: stupid sturdy polyester finish on my tele
the best thing about it is that i wonder if it's even possible to scratch ECG (in standart life conditions, every day situations) - is it?

from the EGC website's FAQ:
"What if I scratch my guitar?"
Polished aluminum - buff it out. For extreme scratches, you may need to wet sand it out. If you dont feel comfortable doing this, send it back to me and I would be happy to take care of it.
Anodized - Reanodize
Chrome - Chrome is very hard to scratch, but if you do manage to, its nearly impossible to buff out. Rechroming will be the only fix.
