well, i guess i don't think of Patti as a "band." it's kind of like, is Neil Young a "band"? or, more to the point, is P.J. Harvey or Joni Mitchell a "band"? (/epistemology)

okay, these are all from either METAL and/or GOTHIC scene. Or from somewhere comfortably near like Hard Rock, Dark Ambient etc. Like... Scandinavian Folk :p

Fear Of God  (and other bands of Dawn Crosby R.I.P., mosh hard where ever You are)
Holy Moses
Nuclear Death
Funeral (the Norwegian funeral doom pioneers from the early 90's)
Opera IX (why not later Cadaveria, too,
Arch Enemy
Ava Inferi
Joan Jet and the Black Hearts
Genitortures
Aghast
Khlyst
Faith And the Muse
Christian Death (before Gitane Demone left the band)
Diamanda Galas
Kari Rueslotten
Garmarna
Hedningarna

:p and we must not forget for the awesomeness and the regular good laughs:
Nashille Pussy
Gwar
Biker Sluts From Hell
Scary Bitches

AND the GREAT KAT the Goddess of Speed   though she opened her only between the songs to scream KNEEL BEFORE ME SLAVES, WORSHIP ME OOOR DIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

Yeah, I had that thought too and worried about it for a bit, but I figured since they play with bands it's cool, and that she deserved a mention because she's awesome. I think her and her band were called the Patti Smith Group for a while, not that it really makes much difference. :idk:

Two Canadian bands with female vocals that I like a lot are Metric (synth pop/rock) and The Birthday Massacre. (synth rock/metal)
