Loop, Rachel's and Bark Psychosis. i love this place.
and there was Rome, the post-rock band that time forgot. perhaps they were too subtle for the Thrill Jockey audience, who preferred the Tortoise approach.

Mark Ernestus and Moritz Von Oswald, nowadays known by the name of their Basic Channel record shop in Berlin, totally transformed the world of electronic dance music over the course of about a dozen 12" singles in the early 90s, which have been more or less compiled (with some painfully egregious edits on the first disc) on a pair of CDs. your minimal techno, dub-techno, and glitch all begin here. if you really care about this sort of thing you'll want the 12s, which go in and out of print depending on when the BC guys feel like doing pressings. but then, if you really care about this sort of thing you probably already
have some of the 12s, or know about them already.
