I like their basses (roadstar2 & tr series mostly) and semi-/reg acoustics...their regular electrics don't do it for me though. Never felt a bad ibanez bass neck

their electrics tone just doesn't cut it at all for me. no complaints about the necks tho. never played one of their basses so i really can't comment on that, but i've realized that unless it's over $600, the quality is questionable. both my guitars were around 500, and they were just plain awful instruments. couldn't trade them fast enough.

Undoubtedly a brand that should be tested from guitar to guitar, but I find that true with Fender as well.
On that note, ESP makes some excellent guitars.

i used to own a schecter c-1. great guitar, kinda miss it. as with fender, i can't speak from experience with MIM's, but i love both of my americans to death. no problems whatsoever. however, for the money you are getting an extremely good quality instrument with ESP's. i just hate Floyd Roses, EMG's, etc. and most of their guitars seem to be more metal based, even though there are a few exceptions. i think there's a question of quality control with every mass produced brand, just some more than others.

Sadly, yes, they are typically geared towards metal. The ones I have played/owned have just felt so BUTTER. Could get you some amazing custom shop work.
The usa Fenders I've played haven't had any problems, but the mim and below are a different story.

They make a bunch of non-metal guitars but they aren't exported

Check out Edwards, same company, but all classic designs... ie lawsuit... I blame metal players for ESP having most metal guitars, if people bought more of the "normal" models or asked for other pickups and hardwear then they would make and sell more of them.
Personally I love fender basses with reverse headstocks but I have not played a new fender in like 8 years that really impressed me

I think old Ibanezes like blazers rip any new fender. When I go into a store and want to try something first common brand I'll grab is a Ibanez.

dusty's left handed bass is bad ass IMO....
esp's can be very fine...yea they seem to be metal based now but as muddfuzz pointed out, there are classic designs if you know where to look. same with schectner `i like old esp guitars quite a bit.
i like lefty headstocks and sometimes i don't...depends on the guitar. i do like lefty tele necks but not on teles...usually anyway.
did i even take a side here?
