Just had a chance to try out the Arc Flash I traded (it came in Friday, but I was busy until now), and compare it to my Chalice. I was able to get some redundant tones between the two, although the Chalice was a little warmer to my ears. However - and I think this may be sacrilege given the name of the forum - I found some really great "subtle fuzzy overdrive" tones on it. I could hear my tone clearly, mixed in with this little bit of fuzz that emulates an overdriven amp, but without the muddiness that I find in pedals like that (I'm looking at you, SansAmp). Had I known of this pedal last August when I was doing a run of TOMMY (that's assuming the AF was around last August?), it would've easily bumped my Line6 BassPod tones I was using.

Intrigued :poke: This may just solve the worry I had that the Arc Flash would be too bright and "cutting" (to use Tom's word :thumb: ) with my rig.

I'm not interested in a Tone knob or Tone toggle, but I'm wondering what some of the other mods do, such as the "low gain" mode and the "high bleed". :wha?: Wait... isn't the "low gain" mode just the switch flipped down?

Would any of you describe the Arc Flash as "metallic"? :poke: I love my RAT, but find that it can be a little metallic sounding.

Plus, wouldn't you WANT your Arc Flash to "cut"? Seems like in this thread the word "cutting" has been used pejoritively, unless I'm missing something.

EDIT:

I just had a fucking BRILLIANT idea. Would any of you consider the lower gain mode of the Arc Flash to be a way fuzzier Hi-Five? I love my Hi-Five, but then I thought I could use the Arc Flash as a fuzzboost on my fuzzboard and keep my Hi-Five on my more tame board (I play in three different bands). I axed 7#9 about this possibility... anyone else wanna chime in?

The low gain mode on mine goes from so low you can't even hear it to super starved fuzz at 3 o'clock to clear and fuzzy dimed. It's a quirky pedal but pretty wild. The tone control helps a lot when playing loud and on the higher gain settings :omg:
