Considering swapping out the Depth Charge for something else (B:Assmaster? TAFM?), but I'm pretty happy with the rest of it - other than the fact that the level on the Fuzz War goes from zero to HOLYSHITWAYTOOLOUD when you turn it about 5 degrees.

I have a guitar pedalboard that's only really used for bedroom noisemaking and ambien freakout jamz, and a crapton of other pedlulz, but they're in total disarray right now...so I'll save them for another day.

death by audio makes some interesting boxes, but i think the supersonic fuzz gun is best (although very overpriced). i've seen oliver ackerman play with a place to bury strangers and he's got one hell of a setup.

let's see your noise board when you set it up, dude.

 I know exactly what you mean!

I don't know why they didn't just make the level knob into a toggle

Mode 1: Loud as shit
Mode: Fuck that's loud as shit!

bpamier wrote:How do you like that Algal Bloom? I've heard it in the shop and it sounded very nice, not very velco - just kinda pure. Would you have preferred something else after really learning the pedal?

Oh man, the Algal Bloom is literaly one of my favorite fuzzes EVER. It's such a beautiful sound. It's thick and beefy and clear and articulate. I mean seriously the note seperation and definition is astounding. Best chord clarity I've ever heard in a fuzz, honestly. It can be huge or it can clean up pretty nice for some gritty overdrive-y stuff. It's awesome, get one man. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

What he said.
The Algal Bloom has slowly kicked every other fuzz I have off my board.
That would be about 8 or 9 other fuzzes. All of which were more expensive.
:animal:

Algal Bloom is seriously an amazing fuzz pedal. :!!!:

Now that I have a real amp: The low end on that thing is amazing. I have to dial the bass knob on my guitar amp down, and it was already on like 8 o'clock. BOOM BOOM BOOM. :!!!:

hey - first post. i'm into more ambient/psychedelic/shoegaze stuff. this is:

black cat od-1/silicon fuzz face
ehx pog2 (octaver/filter/1st detuner)
pigtronix philosopher king (compression/swells)
ehx #1 echo (1st delay stage)
mojohand 770 flanger
malekko analog vibrato
malekko analog chorus (w/12volts)
ehx cathedral (1st reverb/2nd delay stage)
mxr 6band eq
ehx holy stain (2nd reverb/2nd fuzz/2nd detune)
ehx pulsar tremelo
ehx stereo memory man (3rd delay stage/3rd reverb/looper)

this all comes from a sunburst mim fender jazzmaster. i've got an eventide pitchfactor on it's way.. can't wait.

Very interesting, especially the order. As I'm trying more to make Mogwai-type sounds, I can see the value of these staggered delays. I have several, but there's nothing in between some of them. I'm thinkering...

the original idea came from wanting to do different modulations after the delays, and sometimes before them. it eventually morphed into what you see above and seems to work well. i wanted a diamond memory lane, but it seemed to ruin my idea of placing them in different stages of the chain. the cathedral's delay is interesting - almost analog in the way that it diffuses. kinda cool.

Yeah, I've been on the lookout for a Fuzz Gun too...but I'm not paying $270 for one, for sure. I hear that they can do Fuzz War sounds plus a whole bunch more, and still work well for bass.

 They might as well have.

I'm wondering if swapping out the level pot would help - like maybe it has a linear taper in there instead of audio taper, or maybe just a lower pot value would help? Haven't done my homework on this yet....

Well if you figure something out let me know because it gets annoying switching pedals because I can't match the output levels well between my noise Invaders and Fuzz War

You could get one of eatyourguitar's attenuator loop pedals, then put it in there and turn it down to unity.

In the end, some combination of these, and an Iron Ether Xerograph Deluxe, and a delay
