That thing is absolutely gorgeous, I always wanted to try a maple fretboard on a jazzmaster, I have a maple fretboard neck for my Dirge Telemaster, but when it arrived 4 frets had lifted and need to be reinstalled

Thanks man! Yeah, I'm pretty psyched for a maple neck Jazzy too. Every other fretboard I have is either rosewood or ebony (and soon ALUMINUM!) so this is a nice change of pace. Visually, it's stunning but may have to change pots/cap to tame the inherent JM brightness when paired with that neck. We shall see real soon here.

Having owned a few jazzmasters and a few maple fretboard guitars I think you will be fine with no need to change the pots. It may be a little more twangy than jangly but I find maple to be pretty mellow so it might balance out well. So yeah, we're gonna need some clips to go along with those pics, mmkay thanks.

I think people may make a bigger deal outta the whole maple vs rosewood fretboard thing and the resulting tonal properties associated with each. I mean, I'm sure maple comes off a little brighter but not sure it's as extreme as some like to claim...

They do, its just more nitpickery then needs to be done. The main difference is in the feel, i find maple to be faster and easier to move around on as well as being much easier for bending notes. I believe most of the maple vs rosewood controversy comes from different guitars, Yes a maple fretboard tele is going to be brighter then a rosewood fretboard les paul, but your also talking about completely different builds and electronics. I personally have found little difference if any at all when comparing rosewood tele's with maple tele's tonally, but still gotta put the YMMV disclaimer...

got my tele back from a friend a while back
it was so screwed up but I got it cleaned up and playing well today

Mine's close. The maple neck Jazzy, 68RI LP Custom (I LOVE ebony boards SOOOOOOO MUCH!) and an EGC Chessie soon here to throw the black anodized aluminum board into the mix. Should cover lots a ground with that trio.

Schnikes, I really didn't like your new Jazzy at first, the white headstock and maple board just looked wrong. But you know, that I've gone back and looked at the photo a few more times I really like it. I want one now.

Yeah, I looked at it for a good long while before I totally fell in love with it. Took some getting used to but it was visually striking right outta the gates.
That said, it's not for everyone and that seems to be a theme with all my guitars...

I put a Grolsch Ring where you see it and my Cyclone sounds 100x's less like a the parts art made of Tin Foil...
