I bookmarked the beauty and the beast website a week ago and hadn't yet got round to checking whether you can still actually buy the thing through it. I'm assuming it is not given the age but hope lives eternal

Ooh - if you find out, let us know
afaict, the links to ESD on that page are dead and i'm not sure ESD even exists anymore (Chank will correct me if I'm wrong ) some further research in my future. i did buy the Clockwork Orange package a few years back, but i failed to strike when the iron was hot

Not sure about ESD. I don't think they do. Had a lot of great stuff though.

A friend posted a link to Les Blank's youtube channel, which made me very happy. It has a bunch of his shorts and some features. Recommended to anyone who like documentaries, but especially his music stuff, which is super on point.
Anyway, here's a few minutes well-spent hearing a story from Lightnin' Hopkins:
(I assume that's an outtake from "The Blues Accordin' To Lightnin' Hopkins", which isn't on the youtube channel yet, nor is the excellent "Always For Pleasure", but they're available in the Les Blank Criterion set.)

these are great - Les Blank is a treasure (as are, of course, his subjects)

That seems likely. Sad times. Guess I'll investigate other entirely legitimate and legal routes

hrrrng, used cds are commanding way more than the vinyl on Discogs, but some of the cassettes are relatively affordable - might have to bust out the ole Nak, merhumblegrumble :snax
