I've wanted to mess around with vacuum brewing for a minute, it's just a fair amount of gear to invest in.

Yeah that's my thought too. I want to get a stove top one so I don't have to keep refilling a burner too. I'll just watch the amazon and wait for them to get tired of me having it in my cart and not buying it. I've lucked out getting 50% off things a few times before.

I mean, I'm sure it's fine for darker roasts too, but it really brings out the subtleties of lighter roasts.
If I can find one that doesn't taste like a damn compost bin, I'd be all for it. I really liked blending dark and lighter roasts, but then I found myself doing 90/10 blends and still thinking there was too much light roast. Maybe I should do a mix of medium roasts?

Just tried Turkish Delight syrup in my mocha for the first time, with Maleny Dairies milk.
Fucking orgasm.
I have a new jam.

i just drank a cup of a new coffee i bought the other day...i use aeropress which is really great...but the coffee is from a place called single origing roasters...they go to town on descriptions:
"A blend of layered complexity. Flavours of forest berry, hints of spice and bittersweet chocolate reveal throughout the cup with a long lingering finish"
verdict: its just tasted like coffee...

I wouldn't mind getting an aeropress, though.

aeropress is pretty good man...the coffee near my work is rubbish, so i invested in one...basically within about a 2-3weeks the investment has paid itself off from a money perspective. but i'm still trying to find the right coffee...i havent had bad ones, but nothing great so far...I think i will try Toby's estate next.

I'm a big fan of the Grinder's fair trade, but I just had a Blackstar bean I think, and it was pretty good.
Yeah I definitely need to cut down on my coffee expenditure.

I've been running with Counter Culture Coffee for a while and have really enjoyed everything I've got from them.

probably not...also...you dont want coffee thats been roasted in the US...it probably takes about a month before it arrives in australia and by then you lose the freshly roasted appeal...plus the different climates its goes through would impact the flavour.
sorry...just re-read the above...i sound like a complete twat...but still, local roasted is best...

Yeah, local is best. You really don't want coffee roasted more than a week ago. It's kinda like bread in that way: go with as fresh as you can get.

Yeah I get what you're saying, my thoughts were dependent on how it's packed, but I was wondering if they didn't have a locally roasted variant.sometimes that happens. Most likely unavailable though.
Most coffee talk makes everyone seem like a wanker. Don't sweat it.
