Max Payne 3 came out in Spring/Summer 2012, I think. Great game though. I would put it in my 2012 list for sure.

I've mostly been going back and forth between The Last Of Us and Killzone 2 lately. Still have lots of games to play though. Still have to finish L.A.Noire, Red Dead Redemption, the Mass Effect games, Deus Ex, and Shadow of the Collosus. There are many others but these were the first that came to mind.

The original Deus Ex? That game was amazing.

No, Human Revolution. Got as far as the second boss battle and then moved on to a different game.

#1 - assassin's creed IV: black flag
#2 - max payne 3 (have it but haven't played it yet...)
#3 - bioshock: infinite
those are the only 3 released in 2013 that i picked up, everything else i played had been released before that.

also the new version of gamespot.com blows...
Max Payne 3 was really quite good. I had a lot of fun with it. Not as good as 2, though.

Yeah, Max Payne 2 is one of my favourites.
The first Deus Ex is still the best, but Human Revolution was a really, really, really good game. Apart from the worst boss battles in history, the game was pretty damn awesome.

Ryan wrote:This is awesome, Spencer! You're a DS fanatic like me haha! I get a kick out of the cosplay pvp too, it's hilarious. There's a couple YouTube channels I subscribe to that do videos like that and show users submissions, it's a great laugh. (The Sunlight Blade, A German Spy, and VaatiVidya all have funny and cool Dark Souls pvp videos and more)
You should beat the game and then experience it in NG+.. you can do everything over, advance different weapons differently, and the monsters and bosses all get tougher. And you can keep doing that to NG+7. I like watching the challenge run guys, especially Lobosjr, he's done pretty much every challenge you could ever think of and owns at them all. He uses the pc editor to start out with weird items or limitations to make up new challenges, really fun. Lately he's been doing this aggressive mod where all the monsters in the area come after you way more aggressively, it's cool.
You play on a console or pc?
Yeah, I love VaatiVidya's lore vidyas. I'm trying to stay away from info about DS2 'cause I don't want anything to get spoiled or overhyped for me...but that mirror knight boss fight has the potential to be AWSUM and SUPER FRUSTRATING at the same time. Having to fight players in the middle of a boss fight...shoot, I don't think I've ever fought a player on even terms; one of us is always incredibly overpowered for the level range. And I play on the PC version, which has fewer players, so you don't get "normal" invasions. It's rarely some dude with similar equipment or a similar urge to not die and have to restart from the bonfire. It's always someone who's beaten the game before, or has cheated all of their equipment and stats in. Even in the very beginning of the undead parish, the dudes with starter gear are using fully upgraded weapons and stuff. Never, ever some guy who's all excited about just getting the claymore and wanting to test it out.
I would love to try stupid stuff like fists-only or dual shields in the newbie areas, but it's no fun when everyone can wreck me with ultra-powerful spells right off the bat.
The aggression and permanent Gravelord mods are hilarious 'cause if you are using the mod and you invade a player, their game is affected by it. You can drag every enemy in the area to them

That reminds me...before playing the game I saw everyone bitching about bonewheels, but when I first encountered some they were no big deal, died in one Combustion spell. Having to fight them with melee weapons though...that's a nightmare.

Agreed. Really enjoyed the game but the boss battles were very frustrating and caused me to shelf the game. I'll probably give it another go this weekend.
Haven't played any of the Max Payne games.
The only game from this year that I played was The Last Of Us, waiting till I get a PS4 before I hit up some of the other great looking games, like Batman Arkham Origins, Beyond, Assassin's Creed, and the new Rocksmith.

Jut blow off the boss battles. Stun grenade>typhoonx2. Shit was a joke.
The rest of the game was seriously good. Like worthy of sharing the Deus Ex name good.
And "find" the original to play through so you can appreciate the fan-service.

The boss battles were incredibly easy once you discovered their individual weaknesses. It wasn't that they were hard that annoyed me, it's that they were completely out of place. Not only were they an obvious trap that you as a character were forced into tripping, but if you were a stealth adventurer like I was, you were suddenly forced into a shooting range with a beast. It's like the developers purposefully threw in a curve ball in order to fuck with your preferred gaming style. I've always been more into stealth games than action ones, so being that Deus Ex can be stealth where you don't kill anyone (except for the fucking bosses), I didn't see any reason to shoot everyone and go in guns blazing every time. I carried a few heavy weapons because why the fuck not? But I never used them EXCEPT THE BOSS FIGHTS! My brother and I were talking about why such a genius of a biotech fighting machine and with a huge IQ would consistently walk into a trap where a boss would be, someone more powerful than you. Instead of allowing you the choice of either taking the boss head on or sidestepping them like a boss (geddit?!) you are forced into these stupid little arenas where you have to drop all that you learned and what felt right for you throughout the game in order to beat these ridiculously overpowered, and then eventually underpowered enemies that were nothing to me or the main story.

The fact that they contracted designing of the boss battles out another developer really shines through since it feels/plays way different from any other part of the game.

Yeah, stealth player here too. The boss battles really took me out of what I enjoyed about the game and forced you to play a certain way in order to move on in the game. For some games I'm fine with that but it really didn't suit this game, in my opinion.
Didn't know they contracted out for the boss battles.

Neither did I. That explains a lot. I liked that the original had voice cues for if you were being sneaky: "Come out little
mawse!"
