Yeah, school was in CA, but home is Boston. Living with my parents for now until I go back to school somewhere/get a real job/whatever. School is starting to feel like a viable option again, though; I started some new meds recently, which I think are starting to work for me, and I've been doing some online type classes that have been going well. I'm looking at enrolling in night classes or community college stuff in the area this coming semester to see if I can handle real classes and whatnot again. Going back to CA would be awesome for sure, but I can't risk going back financially until I'm sure I'm better. I am optimistic, though, which is nice; it's been quite a while since I could say that.

Your avatar conveys it well.
I'll be in "Advanced Fitness" this coming semester, which is code for weight lifting and bikes until June. I'll have the crazy baseball coach as my gym teacher, so that'll be good. I'm actually looking forward to this.

Yeah I think what's dying is actually all that diseased tissue in your body...so it feels horrible now but will treat you so much better later
Keep up the good work man!

The entire 2 weeks that my girlfriend was away on vacation I didn't drink at all, ate better, and worked out 1-2 times per day. Even though it was only 2 weeks I've gotten in such better shape already.

Blurry cellphone shot of my new kludged-together standing desk contraption. It's big, it's ugly, but it totally allows me to work standing up, with my hands at the right height. The anti-fatigue gel mat was a nice add-on. My ass & back feel better already
(yes Chankgeez, TWSS).
Edit: yeah, that's an empty Alesis box I'm using to get my laptop up to proper eye height. Might have to add one more box underneath it...

Yeah, it takes a little getting used to, but not too much. I definitely feel better for doing it.

Hey guys. Long time reader first time poster. Love you guys. So ummmmmm.
Lawlz. But yeah. Hey peeps. Looks like I'll be coming up in here. Long story short, I played soccer all growing up. Got to college and stopped and ballooned up to 250. About four years ago I started doing soccer three days a week and a lot of bike riding and I got down to 200 and maintained that since. I would LOVE to get below 180 but losing that 50 pounds was awesome.
The wife and I had quintuplets in September and I'm pretty much left with the "give up soccer/biking or music" decision. I just can't leave her with five babies that often. So I've chosen the band and quitting soccer and canceling my gym membership. Now I'm at 220lbs.
I need to find something I can do to exercise WHILE I'm able to keep an eye on five babies in the same room as me and it can't have equipment I need to buy. Like, if I had a TV and an Elliptical machine, I'd be set, but we have NO room in this house with the five babies. And not enough money to splurge on that. My first thought is Tae Bo. I love that stuff. Definitely something advanced. I'll peruse the 31 pages of this thread to see what's up. Kinda wish Netflix or Hulu Plus would have stuff I could stream.......but I'd love to hear any suggestions on workout vids. Like a DVD or two that won't cost me an arm and a leg and I can rewatch over and over.

I know it is not ultra manly but I like the 30 day Shred it is a pretty good workout that is quick and requires no equipment
This morning I tried doing pushups which worked well until the dog and 3 year old decided to help

In my experience eating better has been the answer to weight-loss more than working out. I lost ten pounds when I cut out sodas, and my resolution for this year is to give up eating candies and sweets as snack food. But working out is still super important. From what I understand it's like a kindof cureall for what ails you. I know that Netflix had some Pilates and yoga stuff on there last winter (neither are manly at all, but it's something).
Been doing fifty push-ups and sit-ups a day for the last for months as well as working with some free weights, and for the last two weeks I've been running for twenty minutes a day on the treadmill as well. Feeling pretty good, but I'd like to get better tone and more muscle mass in my chest (I feel like I'm shaped like a spoon).

Yepyep diet is key. If you don't already use it, set up an account on myfitnesspal.
It's a great calorie tracker, and if you've got one of dem fancy smart phones you can even scan in barcodes/labels.
It's mostly about portion control. Diet doesn't mean starving yourself of everything you enjoy and only eating chicken/broccoli/spinach.
I love the pie charts in MFP, they really help me visualize my macro nutrients, making sure I'm balancing out my fat/protein/carbs.
It's also fun seeing the graphs of your weight go down (or UP...guh my winter bulk was a bit too successful).
Cardio can work if your diet is in so-so shape and you don't start eating more.
...but beware, intense cardio often makes you more hungry.

So this new 11:30-8 shift at work was kind of a drag when we found out about it. But after the first week is almost over it hasn't been that bad.
Me and the lady have gone to the gym twice this week. I did 11 miles on the bike today.
I lost a pound which was nice. I've gained almost 40 since May...
Anyways, working this shift has spread out my meals as well. And my fiance only packs fruit to snack on which is also good
